BCS Rankings: Oklahoma State and Teams That Control Their Own Fate
Oklahoma State got very lucky yesterday when both Oklahoma and Wisconsin lost.
Now the Pokes have the ability to make a national championship game and it is theirs to lose.
The Cowboys take on the Sooners on December 3 and it was widely believed that both teams would be undefeated.
Now that Oklahoma has fallen to the Texas Tech Red Raiders, Oklahoma State just needs to navigate through their remaining schedule unscathed and overcome the Sooners, who will be looking to upset their rival and ruin their dreams.
If this happens, OK State would most likely meet the winner of the November 5 matchup between Alabama and LSU, who should win out and claim the No. 1 spot in the BCS rankings.
Another team that now controls their own destiny is the Michigan State Spartans.
With a crazy win over Wisconsin that ended with a Hail Mary touchdown in the waning seconds to go ahead, Michigan State now has a great chance to make the Big Ten Championship game.
They are 6-1 with a single loss against Notre Dame. They have beaten ranked Michigan and Wisconsin in consecutive weeks and now must face No. 13 Nebraska this Saturday.
If they win this game, they are going to easily capture the Legends Division of the Big Ten and make their way to the inaugural conference championship game. If they win that, they should be headed to the Rose Bowl and possibly a bigger game.
Of course, nothing is assured in this crazy college season. After watching two of the Top 10 teams fall last night, I’m not even certain we will be talking about these same scenarios in just a few short weeks.
The one thing these teams do know is that if they win out, they will be rewarded and nothing should stand in the way of that.
