Week 7 Fantasy Football Injury Report: Peyton Hillis Is out Hardesty Will Fail

Richard LangfordOct 23, 2011

Montario Hardesty will be going nowhere this Sunday even though Peyton Hillis is inactive for the game. The Browns' running game is struggling and they are playing a tough rushing defense.

Here's an overview of the fantasy situation for the Browns running backs.

Hillis is officially out for this game due to a pulled hamstring. Hamstring injuries can linger, and it is certainly no given that he will be able to play next week. Especially considering Hillis is turning into one of 2011's biggest enigmas.

Hillis can't be counted on in any week. Make this guy prove he can be productive for at least a week before adding him to your starting lineup.

Montario Hardesty

Hillis loss is Hardesty's gain. Hardesty will be the primary ball carrier for the Browns in Hillis' absence. This provides him with a chance to put up big fantasy numbers.

There is some potential there. Hardesty had 67 yards on 14 carries in Week 3 and he added three catches for 19 yards.

On the season, he has 40 carries for 143 yards and no touchdowns.

Why Hardesty Will Fail

Hardesty spent much of the Browns last game as the primary ball carrier. He turned that into only 11 carries for 35 yards.

Teams can stack the box against the Browns as they don't have to respect the Browns deep passing game, and you have to believe this is exactly what the Seahawks will do against Hardesty on Sunday.

The Seahawks have a very good rush defense to begin with. They are allowing less than 100 yards rushing per game this season. They will shut down Hardesty and the Browns running game in this contest.

Prediction

Hardesty: 14 carries for 42 yards and zero touchdowns
