NFL Week 7 Picks: Rams and 3 Teams Headed for a Beatdown

Brian MaziqueOct 23, 2011

The St. Louis Rams are in a very difficult situation this week. A Rams win is perhaps the least likely of any team on the Week 7 schedule.

Starting QB Sam Bradford is out, so the Rams will have to start AJ Feeley. At least the Rams will have a motivated Steven Jackson in the backfield. He is said to have one of those "you didn't draft me" vendettas against the Dallas Cowboys.

All that won't matter, as the Rams will be swatted down in Big D. The Cowboys will take advantage of one of their few opportunities to take advantage of a lesser team.

The Minnesota Vikings are about to host the Green Bay Packers, and it will get very ugly. The Vikings are feeding Christian Ponder to the wolves in this, his first NFL start. He is equipped with the best pure running back in the game, but his lack of weapons in the receiving corp will be an issue. Also, the already thin Vikings secondary will be even thinner without CB Chris Cook, who was arrested early Saturday morning on a domestic violence charge.

At full strength, a Vikings win would have been a stretch. Now it is even less likely.

Last, but not necessarily least, of the beatings is the New Orleans Saints hosting the hapless Indianapolis Colts. The Colts have been terrible all year and the Saints will have something to prove after dropping a division game against the Bucs last week.

They will have had a week to prepare for whatever adjustments they need to make, with Sean Payton's play-calling coming from the sideline concessions he'll need after the leg injury he suffered last week.

I believe that threw the Saints out of sync. They will rebound and thrash the Colts at home.
