Start Em Sit Em Week 7: Last Minute Advice on LeGarrette Blount and Others

Jon DoveOct 23, 2011

Week 7 of the NFL season is about to begin, meaning it's time to make some last minute fantasy football decisions.  Below is a breakdown of several must-start and must-sit running backs.

LeGarrette Blount, Tampa Bay Buccaneers—Sit'em

Blount is nursing a knee injury and appears unlikely to play. Even if he is active, I don't expect him to see many touches.

Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings—Sit'em

I don't expect anyone to really sit Adrian Peterson, but I don't expect him to have a good game. He is facing a tough Packers defense, who will be keying on his every move. Minnesota is starting a rookie quarterback, meaning Green Bay will focus on shutting down Peterson. Christian Ponder's start will result in more carries for Peterson, but I don't expect them to be productive touches.

Maurice Jones-Drew, Jacksonville Jaguars—Sit'em

The Baltimore Ravens defense will be focusing on stopping Maurice Jones-Drew. He is the lone offensive threat on the Jacksonville Jaguars offense. Baltimore is not going to fear the playmaking ability of Blaine Gabbert. Jones-Drew can expect to see a loaded box, limiting the running space.

Mark Ingram, New Orleans Saints—Start'em

This is going to be a breakout week for the rookie running back. The New Orleans Saints are facing an Indianapolis Colts defense that struggles to stop the run. I see this game playing out as follows: the Saints jump out to an early lead, then let Ingram finish the game on the ground.

LaDainian Tomlinson, New York Jets—Start'em

L.T. is facing the San Diego Chargers for the first time as a Jet. He is also getting his first start of the season; expect to see a very motivated L.T. The New York Jets continue to talk about wanting to run the football. I don't see their offensive strategy changing, leaving Tomlinson to carry the load.
