BCS Rankings: Which Teams Will Be on the Move in Week 9 Standings?
Week 8 of the college football season was insane.
There were so many upsets and surprises that will impact the BCS standings and the Week 9 rankings are going to be much different than we have grown accustomed to.
Click on to take a look at some of the more notable teams that will be either moving up or down the polls based on their performance this weekend.
Wisconsin Badgers
1 of 5This was one of the most shocking games I have ever seen.
Wisconsin took an early lead in this game and then seemingly forgot how to play football.
They took a safety, could not stop a screen pass and simply looked lost at times on both sides of the ball.
Michigan State took advantage and capped off their great night with an incredible Hail Mary pass that was deflected multiple times before being caught and punched across the goal line as time expired.
Wisconsin will certainly find themselves out of the top-10 this week.
Oklahoma Sooners
2 of 5The Texas Tech Red Raiders can score with anyone, but no one expected their defense to hold on and allow them to steal a three-point victory against the Sooners.
Oklahoma hadn’t lost at Owen Field in 39-straight games and all signs pointed to them rolling over Texas Tech for an easy No. 40.
Things looked rocky for the Sooners when the Red Raiders took a 24-7 lead into halftime, one that they would not relinquish.
Oklahoma made it interesting with TD strikes late in the fourth but could not stop the high-powered Texas Tech offense.
Now they won’t be hanging around the top-10 anymore for a while.
West Virginia Mountaineers
3 of 5Syracuse exposed West Virginia on Friday night.
As a team that was being completely dismissed in the Big East, Syracuse did a good job of knocking off the class of the conference and putting themselves dead even with a number of teams hoping to compete for the championship.
This is going to really hurt WVU in the polls and I expect them to drop near the bottom of the top 25 or perhaps even out of the rankings completely.
Syracuse could start making some noise as a potential team to move up if they build on this win.
Michigan State Spartans
4 of 5Michigan State now controls their own destiny after knocking off a Wisconsin team that no one thought they would be able to.
They made the gutsy call to throw a Hail Mary pass and will be rewarded if they can continue to win out.
The Spartans should move into the top 10 of the BCS rankings and the Big Ten is theirs to lose. I don’t expect that to happen after last night's epic performance.
Stanford Cardinal
5 of 5Andrew Luck and the Stanford Cardinal have finally beaten a ranked opponent.
Regardless of the fact that it was the Washington Huskies and they were only ranked 25, Stanford took care of business and disproved another knock on their team.
Oregon also won big this week so the looming Nov. 12 game between the two is going to carry some major significance going forward.
The winner will definitely head to the Pac-12 Championship and may even have strong national championship consideration.
This was a big win for the Cardinal though and it should help them jump up a few spots this week.
