BCS Standings: Stanford Cardinal and Biggest Winners from Saturday

Austin GreenOct 23, 2011

After several unimpressive performances from highly ranked teams, several programs have excellent opportunities to move up in the BCS standings. Here are the three biggest BCS winners from Saturday's action.

No. 11 Kansas State Wildcats

Quarterback Collin Klein and the Wildcats obliterated in-state rival Kansas 59-21 to improve to 7-0 on the season.

Their schedule has been pretty weak thus far, but I think KSU can make a legitimate argument that they should now be in the Top 10.

The Wildcats will certainly have a chance to prove themselves in the second half of the season when they have an absolutely brutal schedule. They take on No. 3 Oklahoma, No. 4 Oklahoma State, No. 17 Texas A&M, and No. 24 Texas.

Like I said, brutal.

We'll find out how good K-State really is over the next four weeks.

No. 8 Stanford Cardinal

Andrew Luck and the Cardinal had been criticized this season because, coming into today, they hadn't played a ranked opponent.

Today, they took on that first ranked opponent and they were damn impressive.

The No. 25 Washington Huskies marched into Palo Alto and got beat down 65-21.

Luck was his usual efficient self, but wasn't spectacular. Instead, he let the running backs dominate.

Stepfan Taylor carried the ball 10 times for 138 yards and a touchdown. Tyler Gaffney rushed nine times for 117 yards and a touchdown and Anthony Wilkerson carried the ball 13 times for 93 yards and two scores.

If Stanford can get anywhere near that level of production from their backfield, they will be a force to be reckoned with.

No. 7 Clemson Tigers

The Tigers also improved to 7-0 on Saturday and will definitely be rising after sixth-ranked Wisconsin's wild upset loss to Michigan State.

Given the strength of Clemson's schedule, they have a good chance of leapfrogging No. 5 Boise State.

The Tigers have beaten three ranked opponents and scored over 50 points in back-to-back games.

Sophomore Tajh Boyd has been incredible this season, throwing for 2,012 yards and 19 touchdowns with just three interceptions. He's also ran for 157 yards and three touchdowns this season.

Don't be surprised at all if Clemson is in the BCS Top 5 by Sunday night.
