Week 7 Start Em Sit Em: Aaron Rodgers and More QBs That Will Guarantee You a Win

Mike ChiariOct 23, 2011

With the passing game being more important than ever in the NFL, quarterbacks have become the biggest scorers in fantasy football. While you used to be able to get by with a mid-level signal caller, you are now at a huge disadvantage without an elite quarterback.

There are some quarterbacks who can essentially win you a week on their own. Several of those types of quarterbacks have excellent matchups in Week 7, so here are three quarterbacks who will guarantee you a win this weekend.

Drew Brees - New Orleans Saints

Despite throwing for 383 yards last week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees had a very disappointing game. It isn't often that Brees throws three interceptions in a single game, but that is exactly what he did in Week 6.

With that fresh in his mind, there is no question that Brees will be out for redemption on Sunday night. Luckily, he has the perfect opponent to bounce back against in the 0-6 Indianapolis Colts. While the Colts are worse against the run, they aren't exactly dominant against the pass.

Brees and the New Orleans offense will likely be able to toy with the hapless Colts in this game, meaning Brees has major scoring potential. As long as Brees has adequate time to throw, I doubt the Colts will be able to cover his wide array of weapons.

Matthew Stafford - Detroit Lions

Everybody knew that Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford had all the potential in the world, but he couldn't stay on the field during his first couple seasons. That hasn't been an issue at all in 2011, though, as he has developed into one of the game's elite quarterbacks.

Stafford has been dominant through six games with 1,729 yards, 15 touchdowns and just four interceptions this season. He has already become a must-start fantasy signal caller, and he has a very favorable matchup in Week 7 against the Atlanta Falcons.

Few teams have struggled more against the pass than the Falcons this season, and Stafford will surely look to take advantage of that. With running back Jahvid Best out with a concussion, the Lions may pass even more than usual, and that bodes will for both Stafford and his No. 1 target Calvin Johnson.

Aaron Rodgers - Green Bay Packers

Whether we're talking in real terms or in fantasy terms, it is hard to argue with the notion that the Green Bay Packers' Aaron Rodgers is the best quarterback in football. The Packers are the only remaining undefeated team and Rodgers has 300 or more passing yards in every game but one, so that tells you all you need to know.

Rodgers has over 2,000 passing yards and 19 total touchdowns so far this year. He is basically a lock to put up huge numbers every week, and Week 7 will be no different as the Packers travel to take on the miserable Minnesota Vikings.

The Vikings can stop the run fairly well, but they really struggle to defend the pass. Rodgers has decimated much better pass defenses this season, and in the controlled environment of a dome, there is no telling what type of damage he may do on Sunday.
