Week 7 Fantasy Football Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: Tim Tebow and More 1-Start Wonders

Andrew KulhaOct 22, 2011

One thing that you have to be very cautious of as a fantasy football owner is buying into the hype of an NFL player.

Most average players and fantasy producers seem to fluctuate from game to game. One game they can put up incredible stats and fantasy points, and the next you barely hear from them.

That's the problem with players not named Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady or Drew Brees—they just aren't superstars.

Unfortunately, the honest truth is 90 percent of your fantasy team is made up of a bunch of role players.

This is the time of the season where role players become very valuable as well, especially on the waiver wire.

Don't let one of these players fool you though. They may be good for the occasional start, but all-in-all, these guys are just one start wonders.

Tim Tebow, QB, Broncos

Tebow officially has the wheel for the Denver Broncos, and considering his first game is coming against a winless Miami Dolphins team, it's safe to assume that he's going to put up some pretty good fantasy numbers.

It's almost impossible to believe that Tebow is going to be a consistent passer though, so unless he's the second coming of Michael Vick, I would recommend not counting on Tebow.

Reggie Wayne, WR, Colts

There was a point in time where Wayne would have been a sure start every week. The problem is that he's got Curtis Painter throwing to him nowadays and he's really the only deep threat the Colts have. He's getting double-covered more times than not.

Shonn Greene, RB, Jets

This has been a horrible year for Greene. This week, he's got a good matchup against a Chargers team that is giving up 4.6 yards per carry though. Be careful to trust him aside from this week.
