Manny Pacquiao: Boxing Star Bolsters Garage with Ferrari Ahead of Marquez Fight
Amidst the normal routine of training for his fight with Juan Manuel Marquez and awaiting an official challenge from Floyd Mayweather Jr., Manny Pacquiao went out and did what rich and famous people do—he bought a Ferrari.
Pacquiao's latest purchase, a Ferrari 458 Italia, comes amidst recent reports that the six-time world boxing champion had fallen into a faulty financial position due to poor investments, lawsuits and back taxes owed to the IRS.
Apparently, Pac-Man still has enough stashed away somewhere to afford a $225 thousand sports car, which he keeps parked in a garage beneath his penthouse suite in Los Angeles.
Or maybe he's just counting on another big payday from a win over Marquez on November 12th in the third fight between the two. After all, he's guaranteed to earn more than $20 million from the bout, between ticket sales, Pay-Per-View purchases, TV rights and, of course, the purse itself.
Tough life, indeed.
It is interesting to note, though, that Pacquiao had enough free time in his busy schedule to add yet another high-powered vehicle to his already-impressive collection spread between LA, Las Vegas and the Philippines. Pacquiao is in the midst of the most intensive portion of his training schedule in the run-up to next month's fight, one that seemingly wouldn't allow for him to go around browsing for a new ride.
Chances are, the new purchase won't prove to be too much of a distraction for Pacquiao, at least not enough for him to slip up against a long-time rival.
Perhaps Pac-Man should consider buying another Ferrari after the fight and send it Money May's way as a sign of good will, to finally get the wheels in motion on a Pacquiao-Mayweather mega-fight.
