Week 9 BCS Projections: Auburn Will Temporarily Lose BCS Ranking After Blowout

The No. 20 Auburn Tigers' roller coaster season will continue after they were blasted by the top team in the country yesterday. No. 1 LSU donned their new alternate unis that have been all the rage this year and blasted the defending champions 45-10.

The Tigers were already hanging by a thread in regards to their BCS standing. This lopsided loss is sure to snap that string.

The fall from the BCS standings will likely be temporary. With three winnable games coming up next, Auburn could find themselves right back in the Top 25 by the time they play Alabama in the season finale, better known as the Iron Bowl.

Of course, this will also likely end in a loss, but because it is at home, it may not be quite as ugly as the one Auburn fans had to endure on Saturday. If they can stay close, it is possible to end the season ranked.

That would be a huge accomplishment considering the many ups and downs that have befallen this team this season. Of the three remaining games before the Iron Bowl, two of them are at home—next week against Ole Miss and Week 11 against Stamford.

Sandwiched in between those two games is a road game with Georgia. This will obviously represent the toughest game besides the Alabama contest. After the Bulldogs started 0-2, they have rebounded with five straight victories.

Still, Auburn could win this game, even on the road. If they finish the season out with at least three wins in the final four, they can sustain a decent bowl berth.
