BCS Rankings: Wisconsin Badgers Will Be in Top 5 When Second Poll Is Released
The undefeated Wisconsin Badgers have been destroying opponents this season and deserve to be ranked in the Top 5 of the BCS if they beat Michigan State tonight.
The sixth-ranked Badgers have embarrassed every team they've played thus far. They lead the nation in scoring with 50.2 points per game and are third in scoring defense, giving up just 9.7 points per game.
They travel to East Lansing to take on No. 16 Michigan State tonight. It will be the Badgers' second game against a ranked opponent.
Their first was against then-eighth-ranked Nebraska. Wisconsin made the Cornhuskers look like high schoolers, easily beating them 48-17.
Badgers senior quarterback Russell Wilson is a legitimate Heisman candidate this season.
He leads the nation in quarterback rating (210.9) and has only thrown 14 touchdowns with just one interception. He's also the country's fifth most accurate quarterback, completing 74.2 percent of his passes.
Wisconsin also has one of college football's best rushing attacks. Led by Montee Ball and James White, the Badgers average 257.5 rushing yards per game.
The Badgers are currently ranked behind No. 5 Boise State, but will pass them up this week if they can put a beating on Michigan State.
Boise State's schedule is too weak and Wisconsin has been too impressive. If the Broncos still out-rank the Badgers come Sunday night, it will be a minor travesty.
I would love to see these two teams play in a BCS bowl game, but if Wisconsin goes undefeated, they should be playing in the national championship game. Boise State won't get there because their schedule will screw them over like usual.
Obviously, all this depends on the outcome of tonight's game, but I expect Wisconsin to roll.
And if they do, they will be in the Top 5 by Sunday night.
