Week 7 Fantasy Football Start Em Sit Em: Blaine Gabbert and QBs You Should Bench

These three quarterbacks will probably be poor decisions if you decide to give them the start for Week 7 in fantasy football.

Blaine Gabbert

Gabbert has had a couple quality moments to hang his hat on to build confidence within himself. He has yet to throw more interceptions than touchdowns in a single game. He has thrown for four touchdowns compared to two interceptions.

However, he will go up against one of the best defenses in the NFL in the Baltimore Ravens. Not only will Baltimore shut down the running attack (third in NFL), but they will be able to slow down Gabbert and the passing attack with their seventh-ranked pass defense.

Gabbert will continue to develop and get better in his first year, and these types of games will only further his maturation process.

He might give the Jaguars a chance to win, but he isn’t the best fantasy option.

Christian Ponder

Ponder will be making the first start of his career against the Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers. Welcome to the league, rook.

For those people who questioned the choice of Ponder in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft, this game will be a measuring stick for opinionated people everywhere. He will give you hope that he can be successful by making impressive plays, or he will look horrible against the Packers defense.

I think he will be all right against the Packers. I wouldn’t go with a rookie quarterback in his first game, though. You can’t trust that thought process. It would be a good idea to at least see what he has to offer.

Charlie Whitehurst

Whitehurst will be making his first start of the season for Seattke against the Browns.

While Cleveland is awful against the rush, the Browns can shutdown the passing game, allowing 192 yards per game.

This won’t be the best game for Whitehurst to make his first start of the season.
