Bernard Hopkins' Execution Style Attack on Dawson, Tarver and Toney

Nedu ObiOct 23, 2011

Bernard Hopkins, who lost and regained his WBC light heavyweight title in a matter of days, has come out firing on all cylinders to suggestions from Chad Dawson, Antonio Tarver and James Toney that he exaggerated his shoulder injury.

B-Hop lost his title to Dawson in what some would say was an overly dramatic fashion—in the second round B-Hop threw a punch and missed, thus leaning into Dawson who subsequently manhandled the 46-year-old to the canvas and through the ropes.

B-Hop immediately grabbed his shoulder whilst indicating to referee, Pat Russell, that he was in no condition to continue.

As a result, Dawson was declared the winner via TKO, as the referee deemed B-Hop's fall as an accident.

A few days later, the WBC’s rule WC-32 came into effect and B-Hop was reinstated as the WBC champion to the disgust of many—not to mention Dawson who felt he was robbed and thought that B-Hop had overstated his injury.

Others voiced their disapproval at the result too, notably “Lights Out,” “Magic Man” and Ronald Winky” Wright the former undisputed world light middleweight champion.

The disparaging comments didn’t sit well with B-Hop, and he responded in venomous fashion, first in unison...

"

"If you cowards think I'll let you slide from them comments you made...trust me, I got you b*tch ass chumps," Hopkins shouted off.

"

And then he lined them up one by one for an executioners style rant...

Execution No. 3

James “Lights Out” Toney on B-Hop.

Lights Out is a former three-weight division world champion who has also competed at five different weights, he even made a foray into MMA when he took on UFC legend Randy “The Natural” Couture, losing via arm triangle.

Referring to his upcoming cruiserweight fight with Denis Lebedev on Nov. 4, Lights Out lashed out at B-Hop's performance against Dawson…

"

Toney said “You aint going to see no lay down like Bernard Hopkins did. I will be there to kick his [Lebedev] a** right in front of his people. He likes to wait until fighters from my generation get old and that’s made him feel like he can fight.

"
"

“James Toney talking a lot of sh*t. He's broke, fighting to get some money. I remember when he got the Achilles tendon injury. He fell on the floor crying like a baby. James Toney is a phony. He got his ass beat in UFC by Randy [Couture]. Didn’t he test positive for steroids? He's pimping his name for a check.”

Antonio “Magic Man” Tarver on B-Hop

The “Magic Man” is a former Ring Magazine, IBF, WBC, WBA and IBO light heavyweight champion.

He is also the current IBO cruiserweight champion. The Magic Man, amongst other things, is famous for starting the rot to future Hall of Famer Roy Jones Jr's career.

This is what he had to say about the Dawson fight and B-Hop's past misdemeanors in the ring...

"

“Bernard is a cagey fighter, but sometimes he’s too cagey. Sometimes he tries to outthink everybody as if nobody’s is watching. He reminds me of an old, slick con-artist. First of all, he’s been caught trying to do this before, with the Roy Jones incident. Anybody hits him anywhere near a rabbit punch and this guy falls for dead...”

"
"

“Antonio Tarver talking all that sh*t. The same guy I whooped....[and] begged Buddy McGirt to tell him something so he wouldn’t get knocked out. Tarver, the same cat who will be broke, [and] still fighting to look for a check. Tarver, you can do all the talking you want…I beat your ass...period!! Then you had the nerve to say you would have knocked me out.”

Chad “Bad” Dawson on B-Hop

The former WBC, IBF and IBO light heavyweight champion now has two losses in his career—first to former WBC, IBO and Ring Magazine light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal, and most recently to the man he accuses of denying him the victory in their light heavyweight title clash—B-Hop.

Bad, alluding to B-Hop's alleged shoulder injury…

"

"He jumped on me and was pulling me down, so I pushed him off with the shoulder," Dawson said. "B-Hop disappointed a lot of fans. I was looking forward to a good fight. I trained eight weeks for this...Yes, he was faking. This is a fight I wanted for three years, and Bernard obviously didn't want the fight."

"
"

“Yes I want a rematch to prove I am the man. Chad Dawson ain't sh*t but a sucka. Chad talked all that sh*t after the fight was stopped. I hit that hoe with a body shot and I heard the air come out of him.”
