Fantasy Football Week 7: Keep Steven Jackson and These Studs on the Bench

Eric BallOct 21, 2011

Steven Jackson just can’t catch a break.

The beastly running back has been saddled with a crappy Rams team for his entire eight year NFL career.

This year his team is winless and going absolutely nowhere, and a big reason for that is the Rams hideous offensive line.

Jackson has yet to reach the 100-yard mark and has generally been a fantasy bust this season. This week he faces the No. 1 ranked Cowboys running attack that is allowing under 70 yards a game.

This isn’t the week Jackson gets things back on the right track.

Here are three other studs to avoid this week:

Shonn Greene vs. San Diego Chargers

He hasn’t run for more than 83 yards and has a grand total of two touchdowns. Greene isn’t panning out the way we all thought he would and LaDainian Tomlinson is vulturing his touchdowns.

Against a Chargers defense that is second in the league against the pass (179 ypg), and 17th against the run (113 ypg)…stay away from Greene, who is beginning to creep towards official bust status.

Plaxico Burress vs. San Diego Chargers

This guy is inching towards the cut line.

Since a spectacular Week 1 (72 yards, 1 TD) Burress has been a huge disappointment. He has a grand total of 10 catches in his last five games and hasn’t gained more than 55 yards.

Last week against a terrible Miami team, he could only muster one catch for 16 yards despite getting thrown at four times.

He isn’t syncing with QB Mark Sanchez, instead he is sinking down to possible cut status.

Playing the Chargers No. 2 ranked pas defense isn’t the remedy.

Montario Hardesty vs. Seattle Seahawks

Hardesty is the main guy for the Browns now that Peyton Hillis is dealing with a hamstring injury. Just because he will get a solid amount of touches…it doesn’t mean he’s a good fantasy option.

The Seahawks are No. 1 in the NFL, allowing only 3.1 yards per rush.

The Browns offense is horrible (18th in passing, 30th in rushing) and will be forced to throw the ball 40 plus times.

One final tidbit: Hardesty is an awful blocker and will likely be out of the game for every third down play.
