NFL Picks Week 7: Cowboys vs. Rams and the Biggest Beatdowns of the Week

Eric BallOct 21, 2011

The Week 7 slate is overflowing with mismatches.

There isn’t one game that features two teams with winning records.

That means the point spreads are going to be jumbo sized. There are four games that jump out as absolute massacres:

St. Louis Rams at Dallas Cowboys.

The Rams have no hope at 0-5 and are beginning to go in “I gets mine” mode where it’s all about racking up stats and getting good game tape for other teams to see.

The Cowboys are sill breathing and quietly have one of the better defensive units in the league. They are 14th in the league in passing yards allowed at 238, but are No. 1 against the rush, allowing an incredibly stingy 69 yards per game.

On the flip side, nobody is allowing more rushing yards than the Rams at 161 a game. With Tony Romo in dire need of winning back the fans, the offense is going to be impossible to stop for the hideous Rams D.

The Cowboys will limit what Steven Jackson can do and the Rams will have to rely on Sam Bradford to chuck it up.

No dice. This game reeks of a double-digit blowout.

Prediction: Cowboys 36 Rams 20

Other beatdowns this week:

Indianapolis Colts at New Orleans Saints

Who would have guessed that both Peyton Manning and Sean Payton would both be watching this game from up in the booth?

In a rematch of the 2010 Super Bowl, Drew Brees and Co. will jump out to a huge lead in the first half with their deadly passing attack and control the clock in the second half.

Curtis Painter on the road in a dome? No thanks.

Prediction: Saints 38 Colts 20

Green Bay Packers at Minnesota Vikings

Best team in the league with a red-hot QB vs. a rookie QB in Christian Ponder making his first career start for a team that’s season is already over. Hmmmm….

Packers 28 Vikings 10

Baltimore Ravens at Jacksonville Jaguars

The Ravens defense isn’t kind to veteran QBs…let alone a kid that just turned 22 and will be making his third career start.

The Jags defense can’t handle the explosive Ravens offense, and this Monday Night Football game will be a laugher.

Prediction: Ravens 31 Jaguars 13
