NFL Predictions Week 7: Ravens and Packers Will Continue to Dominate

Michael DixonOct 21, 2011

Two of the NFL's best, most consistent teams are Green Bay and Baltimore. Of course the Packers fall into that description; when you're undefeated, you're nothing if you're not consistent.

The Ravens have only been slightly worse. They have had a bye week and lost a game, but have looked completely dominant for the rest of the season.

While both teams will be on the road this week, do not expect their run of dominance to come to an end. While we're at it, don't expect these teams to be slowed down much until the playoffs. It would not be at all surprising if these teams locked horns in the Super Bowl.

But let's not look too far ahead. For right now, why don't we just take a look at their games this week to see if an upset is even remotely possible.

Green Bay Packers at Minnesota Vikings

There are a few offenses in the league that can score with the Packers, or at least come close. We saw the Saints gave them a great game on the season's opening night, and I am sure that the Patriots can match points with Green Bay.

But for the rest of the league, their only real chance is to play a very defensive game. While the Vikings have some good players on defense, and Adrian Peterson to control the clock, I just don't see it happening.

The Packers just have too many weapons, and a fantastic quarterback to distribute the ball to those guys. While this is a road game, the Packers will do just fine in a dome.

Baltimore Ravens at Jacksonville Jaguars

The Ravens play a much different style than the Packers. Still, in terms of wins and losses, it's just as successful.

I just don't see a way that the Jaguars can do anything significant on offense against Ray Lewis, Ed Reed and the Baltimore defense. I do like Blaine Gabbert a lot, but this is not a good matchup for him.

Now, the Jaguars do have a decent defense. Between the Ravens and Packers, they are the more likely team to lose. That's just not saying much.

This game won't feature a lot of scoring. On paper, it may not look like a huge blowout. But I am predicting something in the 17-6 range. The final score may not be especially awful, but the game will be clearly one-sided.
