Week 7 Fantasy Football Rankings: Tim Tebow's Sunday Success Is Pure Fantasy

Gabe ZaldivarOct 21, 2011

It's time to weigh both land of the living with that of the fantasy world. Tim Tebow is our subject in what can be gained for Broncos fans and those of us who have put our fantasy football hopes in his start this weekend.

There will be better fantasy players on Sunday, but none of them will be as interesting a study as Tim Tebow in his first start of the year. This goes for the implications his playing time has in the real world of X's and O's as well.

The Broncos offense has been rearranged and retooled. What we will see on Sunday will be a far cry from what we saw in the beginning of the season. There is no way of knowing if that is a good thing for a few more weeks.

What we do have is some healthy assumptions that can be made on the most watched quarterback on Sunday.

Reality

The Denver Broncos will come into Miami with thoughts on keeping a dreadful Dolphins club in the doldrums. There is no reason to give hope to the hopeless. A quick punch to the gut is the call of the day. That should come with a run-heavy offense led by Tim Tebow.

The Broncos have not had a consistent effort on the ground, and the Dolphins are atrocious in the secondary. That should allow Tebow to complete some deep passes mixed in with a great many rushing yards. This will be a tough matchup for the Dolphins to game plan for.

Fantasy

I don't see any reason to think Tebow will fail to garner 20 points in his first start. The Dolphins are the perfect team for him to garner star-level points.

As I stated, the Dolphins will allow the deep pass. Tebow is not a pocket-passer who will throw 40 times in a game. But the throws he does complete will be for big yards.

I still think Tebow will suffer some growing pains this year, but it won't come at the hands of the Dolphins.
