Week 7 College Football Picks: LSU and Other Ranked Teams on Upset Alert

Nicholas GossOct 21, 2011

LSU is one of the many ranked teams this week on upset alert. The top-ranked Tigers will take on defending champions Auburn in a massive SEC battle.

After falling out of the Top 25, Auburn has climbed to the No. 20 spot in the AP poll.

LSU must not take Auburn lightly or they could run the risk of ruining their perfect season before they clash with No. 2 Alabama on November 5.

Of course, LSU isn't the only undefeated team in the country that could be upset.

Let's look at three biggest teams on upset alert this week.

1) Wisconsin

No. 4 Wisconsin is looking to add an impressive win against No. 16 Michigan State on Saturday to their resume in order to improve their place in the BCS rankings.

Michigan State is a very good team that gave a good performance against in-state rival Michigan last week and will give the Badgers a run for their money this week.

Wisconsin has a high-powered offense, but it has not faced many talented defenses this season. The only quality team they have played is Nebraska, and the Badgers dominated them 48-17.

The Spartans will be a tough test the Badgers, and if Wisconsin isn't careful, their BCS title dreams could end this weekend.

2) Stanford

No. 8 Stanford plays a talented Washington team that has climbed to No. 25 in the polls after a recent run of success.

The Huskies are 5-1 overall and 3-0 in the Pac-12, and beat Colorado 54-24 last week.

Stanford's excellent passing offense, led by quarterback Andrew Luck, will make it difficult for Washington to beat the Cardinal.

Stanford, though, have yet to face anyone really good this season.

It will be a tough battle for the Cardinal, but they should win the game.

3) LSU

LSU has to be careful against the Auburn Tigers this week because the defending champs have nothing to lose since their SEC title hopes are all but over.

LSU has been playing very well all season, especially on defense and are currently ranked No. 1 in both the AP and BCS polls.

Auburn is a good team that can run the ball and has athletes on defense. LSU must not take them lightly or it will find itself on the wrong side of an upset.
