Tim Tebow, Denver Broncos Locks To Run over Miami Dolphins in Week 7

Patrick ClarkeOct 21, 2011

There has been plenty of skepticism over the past two weeks surrounding the Denver Broncos' decision to start second-year quarterback Tim Tebow over veteran Kyle Orton in Week 7 against the Dolphins.

Tebow was brought in late in the Broncos' loss to the Chargers in Week 5, and obviously showed enough to the Denver coaches that he earned the starting job just a few days later.

The Miami Dolphins (0-5) will be Tebow's first test as a starter in 2011, and he will likely have a considerable amount of success against them given the short amount of time they have had to prepare for the dual-threat quarterback.

Note this: Tebow will have a surprising amount of success passing the ball on Sunday. The Dolphins are 29th in the NFL in pass defense, allowing 284 yards per game from opposing quarterbacks on average.

Miami also gives up nearly 107 yards per game on the ground this year, meaning if Tebow can shake lose from Cameron Wake and Miami's pass rush, he could wreak havoc on the Dolphins D.

Offensively, Miami is as mediocre as they come. Led by backup quarterback Matt Moore, the Dolphins have relied ineffectively on running back Reggie Bush and wide receiver Brandon Marshall, who have both come up small this season.

The right concoction of energy and solid game plan will lead the Broncos to a victory by default.

If nothing else, the Broncos will win on sheer Tebow hype and spirit.

When the Heisman winner relieved Orton late against San Diego, he nearly brought the Denver fans in attendance to their knees. That kind of spirit and emotion can last for weeks.

Tebow scored twice in the fourth quarter against the Chargers, and nearly pulled off an unthinkable comeback. Still, the Broncos faithful were chanting his name as if he had just brought a Lombardi Trophy to the Mile High City.

Prediction: Tim Tebow and Broncos, behind a wave of emotional rejuvenation. The arm and legs of No. 15 will rout the Dolphins in Week 7, and Tebow will leave the field with a look of "I told ya so" on his face.
