Manny Pacquiao: Expect a Punishing Pacman in HBO's 24/7 Series

Eric BallJun 5, 2018

Manny Pacquiao is ready to fight right now.

His fight against Juan Manuel Marquez on Nov. 12 in Las Vegas can’t come soon enough.

Until then, fans are relegated to watching HBO’s highly acclaimed 24/7 series, which airs on Saturday night.

While tuning in, expect a Pacman (53-3-2, 38 knockouts) that’s on edge, a guy with a chip on his shoulder. This is the third time he has faced Marquez (53-5-1, 39 KOs) and the first two resulted in a draw and in a split decision Pacman win.

This time around Manny wants the knockout. He has yet to forgive Marquez for going to his home country of the Philippines after their second fight with T-shirts saying he was robbed of a victory.

The disrespect has resonated with Pacquiao and judging by the comments of his conditioning coach Alex Ariza, he plans on taking out his anger in the ring:

"He wants to be as big as he was against Miguel Cotto. But Cotto was the equivalent of a linebacker, and Marquez is a free safety. I think he just wants to kill Marquez."

Woah, strong words.

He estimates that Pacquiao is 75-80 percent ready for the fight, when typically he’s only about 50 percent prepared at this point in the process.

So when HBO gives us an inside look, expect to see an incredibly concentrated dude. In the video preview of the show, you can see the sort of intensity and focus that makes him one of the greatest fighters of this decade. It gives me goosebumps.

I know it’s not the first time you’ve seen Manny throw a killer combination while sparring or in the ring, but it continues to amaze me how quick the 32-year-old still is.

You won’t get the Floyd Mayweather jokes and 50 Cent on this version of 24/7, but you’ll get a great look at the intense training and preparation that it takes to be on Pacman’s level.

This guy is a freak.
