LSU Suspensions: Do You Blame Suspended Trio If Loss Occurs to Auburn?

Dan VastaOct 22, 2011

Oh boy. Just when things were starting to cool down in the Bayou, they have officially risen to an all-time high. Tyrann Mathieu, Spencar Ware and Tharold Simon were all suspended, for they were reportedly smoking synthetic marijuana, which is on the NCAA's list of banned substances.

At least the Bayou Bengals are not in midst of a BCS National Championship or "Game of the Century" anytime soon. Oh, lord.

I have nearly forgotten the whole Jordan Jefferson case since all of his charges were reduced/dropped.

Still, there has been plenty of distractions in Baton Rouge, and Les Miles may be completely bald when the season is complete.

However, will the current suspensions of three of their starters (Simon nickel back) be a huge blame if they lose to Auburn? Well, though some say I predict the future, you never know what will happen. It really depends on the outcome of the game (duh!).

What I mean by that is, if they were to lose hypothetically, how do they lose? Do they lose in a shootout like 31-30? Or do they turn the ball over four times and commit a ton of penalties on defense?

If that were to be the case, then I think you could draw a line from the off-the-field suspensions to on-the-field results. A program can only take so much negative publicity right?

Miles has done an amazing job handling everything and he is truly is a class act, but what will the latest suspensions result in? How much blame can be put, if they do lose?

Some, a little, a lot or zero perhaps?

This LSU team is loaded at the three-deep, and they have youngsters chomping at the bit to see the playing field. Against a solid Auburn team at home will be their opportunity to shine.

Spencer Ware should be replaced by Michael Ford, Jakhari Gore and Alfred Blue. They have one of the top offensive lines in the nation, so subbing backs in and out should not be an issue. However, the secondary loses two of its playmakers in Tyrann Mathieu and Tharold Simon.

Mathieu is arguably the best defensive players in the country. Losing him is a bit of a blow and is the biggest impact in my eyes, but they still have Morris Claiborne, Eric Reid, Brandon Taylor and Ron Brooks back deep. Those four could start for nearly any defense in America.

Luckily, the three suspended players are not expected to miss any more action since they are on a bye week before the Game of the Century.

It is expected that LSU will hang on to a big victory against Auburn since they have a new quarterback under center, but will a close win help or hurt LSU? I am talking about the long-term and even beyond their tussle with Alabama. If they were to beat Alabama, there is no guarantee that they win the rest of their games especially since the current suspended players will be held on a close leash.

Let it be known that winning cures everything, and if these three stooges can get back on the field and perform at a high level, things will be fine and dandy in Baton Rouge.
