Fantasy Football Week 7: Tim Tebow and 5 Players Sure to Score Big

Chris CortesOct 21, 2011

Tim Tebow had a breakout performance two weeks ago when he came in for Kyle Orton against the San Diego Chargers.

Tebow could be in store for a big game this week against the Dolphins, but who else will lead their fantasy teams to victory this week?

Check out these five stars who are headed to big fantasy games this week.

Tim Tebow

1 of 5

Bronco’s fans have been waiting all season for Tim Tebow to get the starting spot over Kyle Orton.  On Sunday, Tebow will have his first start against the Miami Dolphins.

We can debate all day long whether or not Tebow is fully developed as a quarterback or if he has all the tools to succeed as a NFL quarterback, but at the end of the day, he will be a good fantasy option against the Dolphins this week.

The Dolphins are one of the worst teams in the league this year and have struggled mightily on defense.

Tebow throughout his college career and two weeks ago against the San Diego Chargers proved that he can beat teams in the air and on the ground.

I’m not ready to predict long-term success, but a dual-threat quarterback versus a poor defense can lead to a lot of fantasy points.

Drew Brees

2 of 5

Drew Brees is having another outstanding season and this week, his Saints take on the Indianapolis Colts who are cementing themselves as front runners in the Andrew Luck sweepstakes.

The Colts have nothing to play on except Luck (pun intended) at this point, and luck has not been on their side since losing Peyton Manning

Drew Brees has a variety of weapons to help pick the Colts apart this Sunday.

I predict that Brees could throw for somewhere between three and five touchdowns and could possibly have a 300-yard game this Sunday against the Cots.

Calvin Johnson

3 of 5

Megatron is having a career year this year and already has nine touchdowns.

The fascinating thing here is that Johnson has been able to do this against good defensive teams (113 yards against San Francisco, 130 yards and a touchdown against the Chicago Bears).

Against the Dallas Cowboys, he made catches against three defenders by leaping over them and repeated this when played one on one.

At the wide receiver position, Calvin Johnson is as much of a sure thing as you’re going to get.  He will have a big game this week.

Miles Austin

4 of 5

Miles Austin made his return last week after being injured for several weeks.

Before his injury, Austin had a huge game against the San Francisco 49ers going for 143 yards and three touchdowns.

Austin did this against one of the better defensive teams in the league.

This Sunday, the Cowboys take on the St. Louis Rams, who are not going to give Austin the challenge he had against San Francisco and also against Revis and Cromartie on the Jets.

Austin is a solid deep threat and the Cowboys may look to exploit the defense and stretch the field by going deep to Austin.

Look for Miles Austin to have a big game this week.

Aaron Rodgers

5 of 5

Is there anyone better than Aaron Rodgers this year?

Rodgers has thrown for 17 touchdowns so far this year and has over 2,000 yards passing.  Rodgers can pick apart defenses and has been a nightmare for opposing teams.

This week, the undefeated Packers play their rival, the Minnesota Vikings, and this one has the potential to get ugly quick.

The Vikings are ranked 22nd in pass defense and are starting rookie quarterback Christian Ponder, which means the Vikings could be seeing a lot of three and outs on offense.

Potentially, we could be seeing extra possessions for the best quarterback in the NFL against a poor pass defense, which means a huge game for Aaron Rodgers.
