NFL Picks Week 7: Which Teams Will Simply Crush the Opposition?

Chris TrapassoOct 21, 2011

Predicting a team to blowout its opponent comes with a bit more hesitation this season.

I've seen so many second half comebacks by underdogs on the road that it certainly takes a lot more courage picking huge victories than ever before.

Fortunately for me, Week 7 provides a few games that will be big wins for three elite teams.

Dallas Cowboys

The Rams are unquestionably a more dangerous team with Brandon Lloyd in their receiving corp, but their team as a whole is no match for an extremely physical and disciplined Cowboys defense.

Rex Ryan utterly confused Tom Brady for 58 minutes last week and should do the same against Sam Bradford this Sunday.

The Rams have the worst run defense in the league, and although Felix Jones is out, (via ESPN), DeMarco Murray should be able to shoulder the load for Dallas.

Tony Romo will have no issue dicing through the St. Louis secondary.

This game should be over by halftime.

Green Bay Packers

Vikings fans should be happy that their rookie quarterback Christian Ponder will make his first professional start against the 30th-ranked pass defense this Sunday.

However, the Packers offense will make those fans realize there's no way for their team to pull out the stunning upset.

Aaron Rodgers is playing out of his mind right now, and after seeing what Jay Cutler did against Minnesota's defense with far less weapons, I have to think the reigning Super Bowl MVP will have another game with a passer rating above 110.

New Orleans Saints

Last week we saw what happened in the rare occasion that Drew Brees makes a mistake.

The Saints can lose.

Their defense is susceptible to the big play, and can't stop anyone on the ground.

Curtis Painter and the Colts are improving, but won't be able to score against New Orleans for four quarters and have a secondary that's been thrashed by nearly every quarterback they've faced this season.
