Week 7 NFL Picks: Denver Broncos and 5 Sunday Delights

Gabe ZaldivarOct 21, 2011

You can't be a horrible team for long. The doldrums subside at some point to deliver the fans a real treat. That is what the Denver Broncos are hoping as they head to Miami to take on the Dolphins

This game has to be treated as a blessing in the Broncos' locker room. Any NFL team would be happy to take on a Dolphins squad that seems destined to lose a few more games.

They are in a funk that will not be cured anytime soon. That leaves the Broncos as the first team we are targeting for Week 7 glory.

That's not all. There are a few other teams that are primed to bring their fanbases reasons to salute their Sunday performances.

Take out your beer steins and fill them to the brim, it's time to toast to what should be a fine day of football. Of course, if you are rooting for the teams on the other side of the field, you may want to take a weekend trip to where TVs and game coverage are at a bare minimum.

We have the answers to burning questions such as: Who will triumph in the marquee game of the morning between the Chargers and Jets? Do the Rams finally have what it takes to usher in their first victory? And what can we expect from Tim Tebow this Sunday?

This weekend is flush with games that are razor thin. Here we will make sense of it all, and deliver the predictions with a nice little bow on top.

Here are the feel-good hits of Week 7. The season is not all fire and brimstone. It can be unicorns and puppy dogs when you are these few teams heading into Sunday.

Denver Broncos at Miami Dolphins

1 of 5

Prediction: Broncos 24, Dolphins 15

The Denver Broncos are hardly the pinnacle of NFL success. This is a team that could use a solution or two on both sides of the ball.

However, they are facing a team that is far worse off in terms of momentum and poise. The Dolphins looked lost on Monday night against the Jets, and now have to face a hungry Broncos team on a short week.

Tim Tebow may not be Aaron Rodgers, but he will have the Dolphins mesmerized. For once, the Broncos can bank on their ground game.

Chargers at Jets

2 of 5

Prediction: Chargers 27, Jets 24

Oh, how I wish this was scheduled as the Sunday night game of the week. Instead, it is buried among the many of other morning games.

Even the two coaches bring more intrigue than other clashes do on Sunday. You can bet that the Chargers will be geared up to defend Norv Turner's honor.

That is not why I see the Chargers winning a close one. The Jets still have not figured out how to consistently run the ball, and Mark Sanchez will be shaky once again against a tough Chargers defense.

Rams at Cowboys

3 of 5

Prediction: Cowboys 28, Rams 15

The Rams and Cowboys meet up for what is a fool's errand for the St. Louis Rams. Sam Bradford looks ever more doubtful to play. Even if he does, the Ram's quarterback will be hobbled with a high ankle sprain.

The worst part for St. Louis is their inability to score in the red zone. This team's offensive woes will not be solved with an ailing Bradford.

Chiefs at Raiders

4 of 5

Prediction: Chiefs 20, Raiders 17

This game is all about likes and dislikes. I like the emergence of a multifaceted ground game of the Kansas City Chiefs. They will pound away at a mediocre Raiders defense.

What I don't like is the drama taking place behind the scenes in Oakland. The will-he-or-won't-he-start debate surrounding Carson Palmer can hardly help the offense stay on track.

Kyle Boller will hardly be in his right mind taking the field with Carson Palmer breathing down his neck. If Palmer does play, I can't help but think his rust will show through in the end.

Packers at Vikings

5 of 5

Prediction: Packers 27, Vikings 15

It will pain me to watch what would normally be a marquee game between two bitter rivals. On Sunday, we get a team that epitomizes success against one that has fallen off the tracks.

The Vikings will fail to meet the pace of scoring that Aaron Rodgers provides, as Christian Ponder still finds his comfort zone.

The Packers still have troubles in the secondary, but it will hardly matter in this game. The Packers take a comfortable win away.
