2012 NFL Mock Draft: Colts Won't Have Opportunity to Select Andrew Luck

T.J. McaloonOct 21, 2011

The “Suck for Luck” campaign has been sweeping through the nation at a rate not seen since “Bieber Fever”. There are teams that are jockeying for position, as the worst team in the NFL

Three teams currently sit at the bottom of the NFL, but only two of them have a need for the Stanford QB Andrew Luck, those teams being the Indianapolis Colts and the Miami Dolphins

The Colts are a terrible team, but, they aren’t as bad as this Dolphins team.

For the Colts, they have the better quarterback playing now, in Curtis Painter over Matt Moore. They have the better running backs in Joseph Addi over Daniel Thomas. They have the better crop of receivers in Reggie Wayne and Pierre Garçon over Brandon Marshal and Brian Hartline.

The only thing that could keep the Colts from not having the worst record in the NFL at the end of the season is their defense. But, at times the Colts defense has kept them in games, like the one against Pittsburgh in Week 3.

Once the Colts can finally play a full game that doesn’t have turnovers or have either a slow start or a collapse in the second half, they will get that coveted first win of the season.

They will not be the worst team in the NFL, heck they may not even be the second worse team.

The Colts will finish with a record of 5-11, with wins coming up against Jacksonville (twice), Houston, Carolina and Tennessee. That’s a .500 winning percentage after their 0-6 start, which for how bad this team started isn’t a bad way to end the season.

The 5-11 record will put the Colts further down the draft order, which means the franchise will not be able to draft Andrew Luck.

It’s why the Colts fans should start to turn their attention towards USC QB Matt Barkley.

They will draft the USC quarterback who will be the heir to the Peyton Manning throw, whenever the QB retires.

Here is how the rest of the 31 teams will finish their season and who they will pick with their first pick.
