Tyson Tomko Posts Bail, Heads to 'WWE-Sponsored Rehab'

T. SchaeferOct 21, 2011

It's always sad the see men that were once larger then life fall from grace.

Such has been the case with the Hardy brothers, Scott Hall and Tyson Tomko.

The St. Augustine Record recently posted an update regarding the saga of the former WWE and TNA talent. He posted a $7,500 bail and is voluntarily heading to a WWE-sponsored rehabilitation program.  His attorney, James McCune, said the following:

"

“He’s very grateful for all the support he’s received from his friends, family and fans around the world.  Mr. Tomko realizes he is struggling with an addiction and with the support of his family and the WWE, he is voluntarily checking himself into an undisclosed treatment facility to receive the help he needs for a successful recovery.”

"

The "Problem Solver" was arrested in St. John's County, Florida, on charges of robbery.  It was reported that he went into a CVS Pharmacy on October 10 and demanded all the Oxycodone (10- and 15-milligram doses, according the story) from the safe. The pharmacist noted, "Tomko held his hand under his shirt as if he was pointing something."

The strange story continued that he went to a Chili's restaurant, where he asked the waitress for a spoon, then proceeded to disappear into the bathroom for 40 minutes.  County sheriffs found Tomko with blood and needle marks on his arm.

PWTorch notes that the Tomko allegedly "injected 178 pills that were crushed up and melted down."

Mr. McCune noted also:

"

“Mr. Tomko wishes to put this incident behind him and move forward and lead a healthy and productive life. He and his family ask for privacy during these difficult times.”

"

There was no note of pending court dates or what will happen after Tyson finishes rehab.

Tyson's wrestling career was a global one that spanned eight years, including stints with WWE, TNA and NJPW.   He won tag-team gold while in TNA (with A.J. Styles) and NJPW (with Giant Bernard).  He was released from TNA in 2010 and had been off the radar up until recently.

It does go without saying that I hope Tyson finds the peace he needs and the redemption that comes with it.  Such things are always difficult.
