NFL Predictions Week 7: Which TEs Could Eclipse 100 Yards Receiving?

Zach KruseOct 21, 2011

More so than at any other point in NFL history, the tight end position is a dangerous weapon in the passing game of NFL offenses. Take a look around the league—a large number of tight ends are contributing big numbers by catching the football.

That trend shouldn't change in Week 7. Several tight ends have favorable matchups that could allow them to have big days in the receiving game.

Jermichael Finley, Green Bay Packers

Finley has been quiet since posting three touchdowns against the Bears in Week 3, but this might be the game in which he goes off again.

The Vikings' defensive looks are similar to what the Bears run in Chicago. What's more, the last time Finley played in Minnesota, he caught six passes for 128 yards and a touchdown.

Jimmy Graham, New Orleans Saints

What more do you need to say about Graham, other than his four-straight 100-yard games?

No tight end in football is playing better. Obviously, he can't keep up this pace. However, Graham is as safe a bet at the position as there is right now.

Drew Brees looks for him early and often, and I'd expect that to continue against the lowly Colts.

Jason Witten, Dallas Cowboys

Getting Miles Austin back will help Witten, as the vertical threat of both he and Dez Bryant on the outside will help to open up the middle of the field for the tight end to roam.

Witten is starting to get more looks in the red zone, too, with Tony Romo finding him for touchdowns in each of their last two games.

The Rams effectively shut down Finley last week, but Witten is much more of a consistent target in the Cowboys offense than Finley is in Green Bay.

Fred Davis, Washington Redskins

After two low-production games in a row, Davis got himself back into a pass-catching groove against the Eagles.

The Redskins TE caught six passes for 95 yards in Week 6, and looked more like the guy he was in the first two weeks when he had almost 200 yards receiving.

With John Beck starting in Week 7, look for Davis to continue to get targets underneath.

Kellen Winslow, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

No team in the NFL has given up more fantasy points to tight ends than the Chicago Bears, the team that is tasked with stopping Winslow on Sunday.

While Winslow has been stuck in the 40-to-50 yard range in 2011, this matchup could be the one where Winslow finally breaks out.
