Week 7 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: Steven Jackson and the 3 RBs You Must Sit

Chris TrapassoOct 21, 2011

Running backs can be the life force of any fantasy football roster and carry owners to glory.

They can also drag a club down and ruin their chances at reaching the playoffs.

This week, get these three runners on the bench.

Or else.

Steven Jackson

I'm not a huge fan of starting a running back who's facing the league's best run defense.

Not even a well-respected running back like Steven Jackson.

I firmly believe the Rams will try to incorporate Brandon Lloyd into the offense fairly early in this one, in order to help ease any tension quarterback Sam Bradford may feel following his team's putrid start.

What's more, the St. Louis offensive line will not be able to consistently create holes for Jackson against the Cowboys' intimidating front four.

To the bench!

Shonn Greene

I'm not sure you were starting Greene anyway. Even so, despite two respectable games against the Patriots and the Dolphins, don't get too excited.

The majority of Greene's yards came in the fourth quarter. Furthermore, the Chargers—like the Cowboys—have a respectable defensive line.

Also, I like Tomlinson in the red zone, as he's typically utilized on screens and shovel passes inside the 20.

Cut him?

Montario Hardesty

With Peyton Hillis likely out for the Browns game against the Seahawks, you'd be stupid not to put Hardesty in your lineup—right?

Wrong.

The Seahawks, much to my surprise, are allowing an NFL-best 3.1 yards per carry this season.

I expect this to be a low-scoring affair. You'd be taking a huge risk by giving this former backup running back a start this week.
