NFL Picks Week 7: Baltimore Ravens and Road Teams Who Will Destroy Opponents

Matt FaulconerOct 21, 2011

The Jacksonville Jaguars are going to be obliterated at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens this weekend.

The Ravens are on fire this season and look like a potential Super Bowl contender at this point, while the Jaguars are adapting to life without David Garrard.

Life without Garrard hasn't exactly gone according to plan for Jack Del Rio's team.

Rookie QB Blaine Gabbert hasn't exactly been a shining star to this point in the season. His completion percentage is below 50 percent, and he is averaging less than 200 yards passing per game. The former Missouri QB isn't going to know what hit him when he runs into the Ravens defense.

The Purple Rain have the third best run defense and seventh best pass defense in the NFL. They will likely look to lock down Maurice Jones-Drew in this game, which will force Gabbert to have to throw the ball.

That's not going to end well, and the Jaguars will be lucky to score double digits in this one. When considering that the Ravens also boast the 12th best run game and 13th best pass game in the league, and it's going to be a long day for Jags fans.

Don't be surprised if this stadium is half empty by the end of the third quarter.

Washington Redskins

This Cam Newton hype train has to slow down at some point. It's going to come to a screeching halt when the Redskins come to town this weekend.

Both teams are coming off tough losses to divisional foes, but Washington is without a doubt the better team overall.

The 'Skins defense has been exceptional to this point in the season. With Brian Orakpo and Ryan Kerrigan both coming around the edge, they are nearly impossible to slow down. Laron Landry has really given this secondary a boost since his return, and London Fletcher still dominates from his ILB position.

With RT Jeff Otah out for the rest of the season, Ryan Kerrigan should be able to find his way to Newton early and often in this one, which will likely force erratic passes that end up in the hands of Landry and DeAngelo Hall.

With John Beck making his first start under center for the Burgundy and Gold, expect Ryan Torain, Tim Hightower and Roy Helu to get the ball a lot. The Panthers run defense has been horrid to this point in the season. They will continue to disappoint this week when the Redskins RBs carry the team to victory.

Killa Cam has been impressive to this point, but he will once again fail to lead his team to victory.

The Arizona Cardinals are about to run into a steel curtain this weekend.

The Steelers head to Arizona to take on a Cardinals team that has disappointed for much of the season. With new QB Kevin Kolb at the helm, this team has struggled to be effective in the passing game.

He has a QB rating of just 77 and has thrown only five touchdowns with six interceptions. To make matters worse, he hasn't thrown a TD pass in either of the team's last two games.

Kolb now has to face a ferocious Steelers defense that is currently ranked No. 1 in the NFL against the pass. This is not going to be a good week for Arizona's new QB.

With Pittsburgh's offense coming along nicely, this game has the makings of a blowout. Pitt has improved their offense greatly over the past few weeks, and are now ranked 12th overall in passing yards and 11th overall in rushing yards.

This one is going to get ugly quick, so have your remote control handy.
