15 NHL Players Who Should Have Their Own Soap Opera
The NHL has a number of interesting personalities, and many of them would make for interesting soap operas.
Whether a player is a drama queen or just would make for good television, there's no shortage of TV personalities in hockey.
Let's take a look at some NHL stars who would make good soap operas. If you have a suggestion for a player not listed, leave a comment.
Alexander Ovechkin
1 of 15Alexander Ovechkin is a pretty outgoing guy, and he is one of the most passionate players in hockey. I'd love to see him take his sense of humor to a soap opera.
Maybe he could set it in Russia with some beautiful Russian women?
Brad Marchand
2 of 15Brad Marchand's excessive Stanley Cup celebrating in Boston this past summer was pretty extraordinary, and he has the perfect personality for a TV show.
Maybe his celebrating buddy Tyler Seguin could join him.
Eric Lindros
3 of 15Eric Lindros was a drama queen and had the personality of someone who could have their own soap opera.
His career started in a soap opera-ish way when he refused to play for the Quebec Nordiques.
Sidney Crosby
4 of 15Whether you are a Penguins fan, you have to admit Crosby is sort of a drama queen, and he whines a good amount on the ice.
Maybe he could have a soap opera with Matt Cooke?
Chris Neil
5 of 15Chris Neil of the Ottawa Senators is one of those intense guys who plays very aggressively, and that style of hockey could carry into television.
Neil would make for some intense fighting scenes, verbally or physically.
Jaromir Jagr
6 of 15From the mullet to just being an interesting personality, Philadelphia Flyers forward Jaromir Jagr would be a perfect actor on a soap opera.
Sean Avery
7 of 15Is Sean Avery not the perfect NHL player for a soap opera? His whining, complaining, turtling in fights and annoyance make him a perfect candidate.
Can Martin Brodeur star with him too?
Mike Ribeiro
8 of 15Mike Ribeiro likes to dive on the ice, and even faked an injury in 2004 against the Boston Bruins as a member of the Montreal Canadiens.
He had to be stretchered off but was grinning after.
He does act well, right?
Joe Thornton
9 of 15Joe Thornton plays the game with a lot of passion and emotion, and would be a good actor on a soap opera.
Ray Emery
10 of 15Ray Emery is an interesting person, and with all the whining he's done in his career combined with the fact he often acts like he's better than he really is, makes him a good person to have his own soap opera.
Patrick Kane
11 of 15Chicago Blackhawks center Patrick Kane is one of those players you would like to have a beer with, party with and just have some fun with.
A soap opera starring Kane would be entertaining to say the least.
Mike Richards
12 of 15Mike Richards partied a lot in Philadelphia, and it may have been one of the reasons he was traded from the Flyers to the Los Angeles Kings this summer.
His personality would certainly work well with a soap opera.
Maxim Lapierre
13 of 15From his flamboyant goal celebrations to his mocking of highly respected player like Patrice Bergeron, Vancouver Canucks forward Maxim Lapierre would work quite well on a soap opera.
He loves to act and embellish things, so why wouldn't he do well on TV?
Daniel Carcillo
14 of 15Whether you hate him, there's no denying Chicago Blackhawks forward Daniel Carcillo would make a great soap opera.
He loves to take shots at people, fights often, gets under people's skin and speaks his mind. I'd certainly watch his soap opera.
Mike Milbury and Pierre McGuire
15 of 15Although not NHL stars, NBC's hockey personalities Mike Milbury and Pierre McGuire would make a great soap opera.
Both leave you scratching your head with some of the stuff they say, and neither has a filter.
It would make for great TV.
