NFL Picks Week 7: Packers and More Favorites Guaranteed to Boost Your Bank Roll

Eric BowmanOct 21, 2011

The NFL regular season will soon reach the halfway point, and while it's been hard to predict, there are always those favorite games that are too easy to pass up.

Some lines may scare the daylights out of you, and if you're a wise man (or woman—yeah, chicks bet, too) you'll stay away from them—unless, of course, you've just got money to blow.

Here are three favorites certain to cover in Week 7.

Green Bay Packers: 9.0

The defending Super Bowl champs take on their division rival in the Minnesota Vikings, and they're not going to have any trouble on Sunday.

Sure, the Packers are on the road, but the Vikings are just playing awful right now. They're 1-5 and the couldn't care less about it. Minnesota isn't playing with the same intensity as last year, even though it was a subpar team then, too.

Rookie Christian Ponder gets his first start on Sunday, and it wouldn't surprise me if Donovan McNabb is back in the game after halftime because the Packers are going to bring it. It's just what they do.

Prediction: Packers 34, Vikings 21

Pittsburgh Steelers: 4.0

The surging Steelers are little banged up and heading on a long road trip, but I still like them cover over the struggling Arizona Cardinals. The Steelers didn't play too well against Jacksonville last week, which affected this line, but they'll pick it back up with a good win.

Pittsburgh may or may not have Troy Polamalu on the field, which will help Kevin Kolb and Larry Fitzgerald, but the Cardinals defense won't be able to contend with the Steelers offense.

Polamalu has a head injury and is expected to play, but too often in the NFL do head injuries reoccur when players rush back to action, so he may only play a limited number of snaps.

In the end, the long road trip won't hurt the Steelers, and they will cover the spread against a depleted Cardinals team.

Prediction: Steelers 27, Cardinals 17

Baltimore Ravens: 7.5

The Ravens hit the road to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars, which gives us another less-than stellar-Monday night matchup.

While the Jaguars contested well with the Steelers last week, the Ravens' stout defense will suffocate them. Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Haloti Ngata and the rest of the defense will thrash the Jaguars on their home field.

Baltimore is slowly making its case as the best team in the AFC, and the Jaguars are no match for the Ravens.

Joe Flacco and Ray Rice will take care of business in Jacksonville and continue their dominance.

Prediction: Ravens 33, Jaguars 10
