Fantasy Football Week 7: Carson Palmer and Must-Start Quarterbacks

Nicholas GossOct 20, 2011

Carson Palmer will start the for the Oakland Raiders this week, and he is just one of many quarterbacks you should start in Week 7 of the NFL season.

Christian Ponder will be making his first NFL start on Sunday for the Minnesota Vikings and might be a high risk, high reward start.

Drew Brees is looking to rebound against the Indianapolis Colts, who are winless and have been giving up a good amount of passing yards per game.

Let's look at three quarterbacks you have to start this week.

1) Carson Palmer

Carson Palmer will give the Oakland Raiders a huge confidence boost as the team makes a serious run for the playoffs and possibly an AFC West division title.

The Chiefs are allowing just under 250 yards passing per game, and have no elite corners.

The Raiders will certainly want to see what Palmer can do on Sunday, and it's possible he could throw up to 30 times against Kansas City.

Start Palmer in two quarterback leagues as someone who will perform well despite not having played for a while.

2) Drew Brees

After a disappointing loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week, Drew Brees will look to rebound against the 0-5 Indianapolis Colts, who have been terrible defensively this season.

The Colts are allowing about 255 yards passing per game this season, and have no one to cover New Orleans Saints tight end Joey Graham, who will have a big game on Sunday.

Brees has 2,152 yards passing this season through six games and is a lock for 300 yards through the air this week against the Colts.

Start Brees this week under any circumstance, he is going to have a monster game in Week 7.

Matthew Stafford will have a field day against the weak Atlanta Falcons pass defense, which has been beaten badly a number of times.

Stafford has 15 touchdown passes and just four interceptions this season, and those impressive stats will certainly improve on Sunday against Atlanta.

The Falcons are allowing an astounding 283.3 passing yards per game this season, and Stafford could make that stat worse for Atlanta heading into Week 8.

Start Stafford this week, even ahead of Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady, his matchup against the Falcons is that good.
