Arkansas vs. Ole Miss: Last-Minute Spread Info, Line, BCS Impact and Prediction

Andrew KulhaOct 20, 2011

Yet another SEC matchup will be gracing your television screen Saturday afternoon as the No. 9 Arkansas Razorbacks head over to Ole Miss to play the Rebels.

The Razorbacks are arguably one of the surprise teams in the recently released BCS Top 10 rankings, being 5-1 and 1-1 in the SEC. Their one loss did come at the hands of No. 3-ranked Alabama, so it is plausible to see how the computers put them in the Top 10.

That being said, the Razorbacks are going to have to continue proving themselves, so a matchup against a very beatable 2-4 Rebels team is going to be a must-win, if not a must-win-big.

Where: Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, Oxford, Miss.

When: Saturday, Oct. 22, 12:21 p.m. EDT

Watch: SEC Network, ESPN3

Spread: Arkansas -16

It's a big spread, but if the Razorbacks are as good as their ranking it should be an easy cover.

Over/Under: 56

The Rebels are averaging 20 points per game, so that plus the Razorbacks' addition should get them over.

Key Injuries:

Arkansas: running back Ronnie Wingo (probable, toe), cornerback Darius Winston (probable, leg), defensive tackle Robert Thomas (probable, leg), cornerback Issac Madison (probable, knee), running back Kody Walker (out indefinitely, leg).

Ole Miss: safety Brishen Mathews (questionable, back).

BCS/Top 25 Poll Implications:

This game obviously means a lot to the Razorbacks as they seek to validate their ranking and stay in contention for the SEC. With one loss they may not be out of it, but they also have to start thinking about bowl games.

Keys to Arkansas Win:

Quarterback Tyler Wilson needs to take control of the game from the get-go and run the offense to perfection. There is no room for making mistakes in the SEC, so he's going to have to improve on his 12 touchdowns and not add to his three interceptions.

Keys to Ole Miss Win:

The Rebels are going to have to control the ball if the want to win this game, so giving it to running back Jeff Scott, who has only 361 yards and six touchdowns on 75 attempts this season, would be a good idea.

Prediction:

While Ole Miss might get a punch in there, I expect the Razorbacks to firmly control this game.

Arkansas 48, Ole Miss 13
