NFL Picks Week 7: Tony Romo Will Lead Dallas Cowboys to Crucial Win over Rams

Nicholas GossOct 20, 2011

After a heartbreaking loss to Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in the fourth quarter last week, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo will lead his team to victory against the winless St. Louis Rams.

Romo didn't play badly against the Patriots, and neither did the defense. Brady just did what he typically does, and that's lead his offense to the game-winning score in the final two minutes of the fourth quarter.

At 2-3, the Cowboys are in third place in the NFC East, and are only two games behind the first-place New York Giants.

There are few teams who you would want to play more to get a winning streak going than the St. Louis Rams, who have been hurt by injuries all season.

Rams quarterback Sam Bradford may not play this week with an injury, and if he does suit up he won't likely be too effective.

The Cowboys should be able to pressure Bradford, especially pass-rushing specialist DeMarcus Ware, and knock Bradford out of his comfort zone.

The Rams pass defense is also bad, and was shredded by Aaron Rodgers and the Packers last week. Romo should have no trouble throwing the ball with great success this week, especially with wide receivers Miles Austin and Dez Bryant healthy and playing well.

The Cowboys defense will have to pay special attention to Rams running back Steven Jackson, who is their only real offensive threat.

The Rams did acquire Brandon Lloyd from the Denver Broncos in a trade this week, but without a fully healthy Bradford at quarterback Lloyd may struggle to be a factor.

Despite being at 2-3, the Cowboys have a chance to win the division, because the Giants are wildly inconsistent, the Philadelphia Eagles are a mess and the Washington Redskins are overrated.

A win on Sunday would move the Cowboys back to .500 for the season, and steer their season in the right direction.

After the Rams' game this weekend, the Cowboys face the Eagles in a massive NFC East showdown, which makes the Week 7 matchup against the Rams vitally important.

The Cowboys cannot go into the Eagles game with a 2-4 record, and they won't because Romo and Dallas will beat the Rams by two touchdowns or more on Sunday.
