NFL Week 7 Picks: Which QBs Will Lead Their Teams to Victory?

Chris TrapassoOct 20, 2011

We have seen some tremendous quarterback play this season.

Tons of passing yards, a handful of late-game, go-ahead drives and completions through the smallest windows.

This week these three quarterbacks will almost single-handedly lead their teams to victory...

Josh Freeman, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Earlier in the season, I was disappointing in the lack of improvement I saw from Freeman. His offense was very bland and lacked the explosion we're seeing from more and more offenses across the league.

The Saints defense isn't top-notch, but Freeman displayed his true ability against them last week, throwing for 303 yards with two touchdowns.

Against the Bears, he'll have a similar opportunity.

Forget your preconceived notions about Chicago's defense.

Outside of their game against the Vikings this week, they have been very bad this season.

It'll be a close contest in Tampa this week and I like Freeman to make a few critical throws late in the game to lead the Bucs to another win and a 5-2 start.

Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers

OK, I'll admit it, I'm a fan of Cam Newton.

I'm willing to accept that he's not a pure-pocket passer—he's ushering in the new brand of extremely athletic signal callers that can make all the passes from the pocket but are equally as dangerous with their feet.

I'll give him an edge over John Beck all day.

Nothing against Beck, but he simply can't make the same amount of plays as Newton.

Neither team is necessarily impressive, but if it comes down to quarterback play, the Panthers win.

Tim Tebow, Denver Broncos

Similar to Newton, Tebow isn't great at impersonating John Elway.

He creates plays in a variety of ways, most of which involve his legs.

The former Heisman Trophy winner outplays Matt Moore in a game that should be relatively low scoring, (based on this season's standards) and the Broncos win their second game of the season.

I'm thinking a late-game drive that ends with a rushing touchdown for Tebow in front of his "home" crowd.
