NFL Predictions Week 7: Dallas Cowboys and Teams Who Will Save Their Seasons

Adam WellsOct 20, 2011

Week 7 is arguably the most important of the entire NFL season. This is the last chance for teams who had playoff aspirations before the year, who have failed to live up to their potential, to make a run for contention.

Sure, there are some teams that are able to hang around long enough and make a run at the end of the year. However, that happens so rarely that it is not a good strategy to follow.

Here are three teams who have failed to live up to expectations through the first six weeks, but who will get their season back on track in Week 7.

Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys have been close in every game that they have played this season, and have been able to steal two victories. Their three losses have come by a combined 11 points, so they could easily be undefeated right now.

The good news is that they have a game against the winless Rams on Sunday.

Rams quarterback Sam Bradford is battling an ankle sprain and might not play this weekend. Even if he does, he will not be able to move in the pocket, which is not good news when you are facing DeMarcus Ware.

Even if Tony Romo has a bad game, which is doubtful considering the Rams' 30th-ranked total defense, the Cowboys should have no problem winning this game and pushing their record to 3-3.

The New York Jets might be the most boring team to watch in the NFL this season. If you watched their dreadful performance against Miami, you know exactly what I am talking about.

The offense has been sputtering all season and the defense has lost something. They are simply no longer one of the elite units in the league.

That being said, the San Diego Chargers always play down to their opponents. The fact that they are traveling to the east coast for an early kick off does not make things easier.

The teams that the Chargers have beaten this season include Minnesota, Kansas City, Miami and Denver. Those four teams have a combined record of 4-17, so we have no idea how good they really are.

Despite all of Mark Sanchez's struggles in recent weeks, the Jets will play well and get over .500 for the first time since they were 2-1.

The Panthers started the season with no expectations after last year's 2-14 campaign. However, as soon as Cam Newton threw for over 400 yards in the first two weeks, things started looking up for this team.

Even though things have looked better for the Panthers, they are still just 1-5 on the season. I have been saying that this team is going to win more games than we think but it hasn't happened for them yet.

Things will turn around against John Beck and the Washington Redskins. After the Rex Grossman experiment failed—which no one could have seen coming—the team is giving Beck a shot. It is his first start since 2007, so he is not going to be the savior for the offense.

The Panthers' explosive offense will overwhelm the Redskins defense, Newton will have another big game and they will get their second victory of the year.
