Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: John Beck and 5 Quarterbacks You Should Grab Now
Yet another bye week for Week 7 and many of the good quarterbacks in the NFL for the Patriots, Eagles, New York Giants and even the Bills are on break for the week. So, you need a quarterback to pick off the fantasy football waiver wire?
Have no fear because there are quarterbacks that are owned in few ESPN fantasy football leagues that are valuable commodities for Week 7 and beyond.
John Beck, Washington Redskins (Owned in 2.1 Percent of ESPN Fantasy Leagues)
1 of 5John Beck will get the start of Rex Grossman and is projected to score 12 fantasy points in ESPN leagues in Week 7 and could take over going forward.
Beck came into the game late in the second half against the Philadelphia Eagles and had 11 fantasy points. He may have only had 117 passing yards, but he rushed for a touchdown as well.
Matt Moore, Miami Dolphins (Owned in 1.5 Percent)
2 of 5The Miami Dolphins may keep losing, but Matt Moore will still be productive as their quarterback. He is facing the Denver Broncos sloppy defense in Week 7 and will have a great fantasy day.
He is projected to have 209 yards and two touchdowns for 12 fantasy points, but I expect him to have more yards and maybe even a rushing touchdown. Go get him before he is gone in your league!
Carson Palmer, Oakland Raiders (Owned in 24.9 Percent)
3 of 5Carson Palmer's stock is on the rise as people are adding him left and right as Jason Campbell is out for the year and Palmer is now on a pretty good Oakland Raiders team. Not to mention, the Raiders have some good wide receivers and an elite running back in Darren McFadden.
Palmer is expected to start Week 7, this Sunday, against the Kansas City Chiefs who are weak against the pass. He is projected for 11 fantasy points and could be a huge asset down the stretch as a backup quarterback on most fantasy football teams.
Curtis Painter, Indianapolis Colts (Owned in 5.5 Percent)
4 of 5The Indianapolis Colts don't expect Peyton Manning back anytime soon and the job is all Curtis Painters to run this team. Their Week 7 matchup is against the New Orleans Saints and is a big game for the Colts as they look for that elusive first win of 2011.
The Saints have a decent defense and Painter is predicted to have 222 passing yards and a couple touchdowns for 12 fantasy points. If the Saints can't control the passing game, then expect Painter to go wild in Week 7 and going forward.
Christian Ponder, Minnesota Vikings (Owned in 1.3 Percent)
5 of 5Christian Ponder gets the Week 7 start against the Green Bay Packers, but that is basically throwing him into the fire after showing little in the fourth quarter against the Chicago Bears as Donovan McNabb's replacement.
Ponder is expected to throw for over 200 yards and at least one touchdown for 11 fantasy points, but he could show flashes of brilliance after this tough Week 7 matchup, so pick him up now or else lose out on a decent fantasy option in deep leagues.
