25 NFL Coaches, Players and Teams No One Wants to See Win

James TateOct 20, 2011

Obviously, any list like this is going to have an element of bias to it by the person that is compiling it. Some people are universally cheered against, while others are cheered against by people in different fanbases.

It is also a fact that these lists always include a lot of big names. That is because no one cares about the right guard on any NFL team, so there is no reason to cheer against him.

The New England Patriots

1 of 25

Bob Kraft is a class guy. It is hard to believe he has let his organization do some of the things that they have done.

That is just what happens when you turn control over to someone who has an ego the size of Texas and does not care about following the rules.

New England Patriots Coach Bill Belichick

2 of 25

Belichick is smug and arrogant. He always thinks that he is the smartest man in the room. No one likes that.

He is also a documented cheater. That makes it really hard to cheer for him.

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady

3 of 25

Brady is one of the best quarterbacks in history. There is no doubt about that, but you have to wonder how many Super Bowls he would have won if he did not have the illegal advantage of taping the other teams defensive signals.

He still would have won at least one, probably, but that question has to be asked.

New England Patriots DT Albert Haynesworth

4 of 25

Albert Haynesworth got one of the richest contracts in NFL history and then mailed it in.  It is impossible to cheer for someone who has the talent to be the best player in the league at his position, but he does not try.

The Dallas Cowboys

5 of 25

The nickname "America's Team" for the Cowboys has always been funny to me because it seems like a lot more people hate the Cowboys than like them.

It is true that most of the hate comes because they have had a lot of success, but there is also an element of hate because they get so much attention for everything that they do.

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo

6 of 25

You can count on Tony Romo to make a mistake at the most inopportune time. It seems that people actually enjoy his meltdowns. They do not want to see him win because it is more fun to see what mistake he is going to make next.

The New York Jets

7 of 25

A few years ago, nobody cared about the New York Jets. Then, Rex Ryan and Mark Sanchez got there.

Now Ryan seems to make it his mission to have people hate his team. He has done a good job on that mission.

New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez

8 of 25

For some reason, people think Mark Sanchez is a good quarterback. He is not.

Add to that the fact that he is always doing photo shoots for some magazine, and most people would rather see him lose.

New York Jets Coach Rex Ryan

9 of 25

It is impossible to cheer for Rex Ryan. I really cannot understand why anyone would.

Someone needs to tell him that he has not actually won anything yet. He should worry more about that than things like who else is going to beat the Patriots.

New York Jets LB Bart Scott

10 of 25

Scott loves to run his mouth. He does it when the Jets are winning. He does it when the Jets are losing.

You have to admire his consistency, but it does not make it easy to root for him.

It also does not help that he plays for the Jets, who themselves are impossible to cheer for.

New York Jets CB Antonio Cromartie

11 of 25

There would be no reason to hate Cromartie if he did not open his mouth.

Last year, he, like his coach, felt the need to take shots at the Patriots instead of just playing it out on the field.

There was also the clip from Hard Knocks, where he was having trouble naming his kids and their ages.

Philadelphia Eagles QB Vince Young

12 of 25

Vince Young has thrown one pass this year. It was intercepted.

Eagles fans hate him because he cursed them with the Dream Team talk.

Titans fans will always wonder what he could have been if he applied himself to the game. You can believe they do not want him to succeed anywhere else.

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger

13 of 25

It is tough to root for Big Ben after all of the stuff that has surrounded him off the field. He was never charged with anything, but where there is smoke, there is fire.

Roethlisberger also had some problems with his teammates around that same time about his attitude in the locker room.

Pittsburgh Steelers LB James Harrison

14 of 25

It would be easier to list reasons people would cheer for Harrison than reasons people would not.  He plays the game dirty, and cried last year, saying he was going to have to retire after he got fined and threatened with suspension.

Then there was the interview in a magazine this offseason when he threw many teammates under the bus. He also had some harsh words for Roger Goodell.

Cincinnati Bengals CB Adam Jones

15 of 25

Pacman has yet to play this year, but he is still on the Bengals roster. They would probably be better off just letting him sit out.

His off the field problems are well chronicled. That long list of incidents is what makes it impossible to want him to win.

Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler

16 of 25

Watching Cutler's body language during a game is enough to make you want to cheer against him.  He is constantly selling his receivers out with his body language when he feels like they did not make a play that he thinks they should make.

On the flip side, he does not look like he cares at all when he throws an interception. Most people do not like to cheer for a "me" guy, and Cutler is a "me" guy.

San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers

17 of 25

Speaking of bad body language, Philip Rivers is next on our list.

He might be a really good guy that saves puppies in his spare time, but on the field, he looks like one of the biggest jerks in the world.  He gets into with his guys, the opposing guys and the officials.

That makes it hard to root for him to have success.

Miami Dolphins WR Brandon Marshall

18 of 25

Marshall had been quiet for a bit, but you knew that could not last long.

Last week, he started talking about wanting to get kicked out of the game against the Jets in the second quarter.

He had good numbers in the game and did not get kicked out, but it is those outbursts that make people not want to see him succeed.

Baltimore Ravens LB Ray Lewis

19 of 25

Baltimore fans love Ray Lewis. They always point to the "passion" with which he plays the game.

That "passion" also tends to lead to some ridiculous displays on the field.  Dancing around when he jumps on the pile like he made the tackle.

He even got mad at Terrell Owens one time for having the audacity to mock his dance.

Seattle Seahawks Coach Pete Carroll

20 of 25

Pete Carroll is dirty. He cheated at USC and then skipped out right before the NCAA closed in.

He lucked his way into the playoffs last season with a 7-9 team. It will be interesting to see what he can do with his team this year after deciding to pass on Matt Hasselbeck and sign Tavaris Jackson. He thinks it will work because he is Pete Carroll.

Houston Texans LB Brian Cushing

21 of 25

Cushing was voted Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2009. That same year, he also tested positive for performance enhancing drugs. There was a re-vote, and people still voted for him for some reason.

Cushing was not very good in 2010. You had to wonder if that was because he was no longer on the drugs.

It is hard to root for anyone who is a known cheater.

Indianapolis Colts QB Peyton Mannning

22 of 25

It is fun to watch the Colts struggle with Peyton Manning watching on the sideline. The only thing that could be better would be watching them struggle with Peyton on the field.

Peyton just makes all of those faces that are impossible not to hate. That does not even mention all of the choreography he does at the line of scrimmage that is infuriating to watch.

Tennessee Titans CB Cortland Finnegan

23 of 25

Finnegan has been quietly having a good season. It is odd for this much time to pass in an NFL season without a controversy surrounding the Titans cornerback.

Last year, he received so many fines that the commissioner threatened to suspend him if he got another one, and that was before the fight with Andre Johnson.

He said at one point that he wanted to be known as the dirtiest player in the NFL.

Tennessee Titans RB Chris Johnson

24 of 25

It is tough to root for a guy when he holds out for all of training camp, gets his money and then comes in out of shape.

Tough to root for a guy that gets more than $30 million guaranteed and cannot rush for more than three yards per carry.

CJ will probably turn it around, but people will always remember him calling out fans on his Twitter account for saying stuff to him about being greedy.

New York Giants QB Eli Manning

25 of 25

Eli has the same annoying facial expressions as Peyton.

He has drawn the hate of a lot of people since he had his daddy get him out of playing for the Chargers on draft day.

There is also the fact that most of the hype surrounding him is just because his last name is Manning, not because of anything he has done on the field.
