Pacquiao vs. Marquez: Ariza Says Pac-Man's Looking to "Kill" Juan Marquez
Manny Pacquiao is training very hard for his third fight against Juan Manuel Marquez on Nov. 12.
The fight will be shown on HBO pay-per-view and should be one of the highest grossing events ever.
Pacquiao wants to make sure the judges aren’t involved as heavily as they were in their first two decisions, which were a draw and a split-decision that Pacquiao narrowly won.
Alex Ariza provided some insight on just how Pacquiao is preparing.
""He wants to be as big as he was against Miguel Cotto," Ariza said of Pacquiao's last knockout two years ago—which has been followed by three consecutive unanimous decisions versus larger opponents. "But Cotto was the equivalent of a linebacker, and Marquez is a free safety.
"
"I think he just wants to kill Marquez."
Pacquiao is not going to say anything nearly as bold himself, preferring to extend respect for Marquez in public.
This is a good plan, as he does not need to give the opponent who will actually fight him any more motivation to beat him.
Pacquiao told FOX Sports,
""I know what Juan Manuel Marquez is capable of. He is one of the toughest opponents I have ever fought, and I have a great deal of respect for his abilities. He is always in shape and very strong. He is the only fighter who has ever figured out my style of fighting."
"
Pacquiao also said he does not appreciate being known as the “Mexican Executioner” or “Mexicutioner” as he has nothing but respect for fighters from that country.
Although he is saying these things, he did mention that he has become a different fighter and is much more intense now than ever before.
I believe that his new fighting style as well as weight and speed will be the difference maker as he overcomes Marquez.
