WWE Rumor: Chris Jericho Returning for WrestleMania XXVIII?

Yes, the rumors are back. Yes, they focus on Chris Jericho. Yes, it is all speculation at this point.

In my 10 years of being a member of the "internet wrestling community," I don't think I have seen one guy get so much attention. Outside of Bret Hart, Chris Jericho may be the most talked about wrestler from the past two decades online.

According to this report, Chris Jericho is in talks to return to WWE just in time for WrestleMania next spring. Yes, the very show headlined by John Cena vs. The Rock!

My thoughts?

Well, it was only a matter of time before it happened. I look forward to another run by Jericho on WWE TV. He always seems to find a place for himself.

He is great in the mid-card, he is great in the main event and he is even great in elevating younger talent. Think of his last few months with WWE in 2010 for how he is more than willing to lose...

Of course, what makes this potentially huge breaking news even bigger is a rumor that was out a few months ago. It may be a little dated, but it certainly seems to make a ton of sense looking back at it.

According to WrestleZone, Jericho's recent jabs at various talents on Twitter are nothing more than storyline-driven. He has (reportedly) requested to work with CM Punk at WrestleMania 28.

My thoughts?

Well, I do not use Twitter, but even I suspected Jericho was "working" with all of his recent comments. Some of it may be his true feelings, but he knows what he is doing in this business.

As for his desire to work with Punk? I could live with that. It would add to the already huge card WWE is shaping up for WrestleMania 28 in a couple of months.

He has always made a better heel (in my opinion), but he is sure to get a face reaction whenever he returns. Add on that Punk just turned face, and you have even more of a tricky situation.

Add on these rumors of Punk being WWE Champion at or right before WrestleMania, and you have an even crazier scenario than originally thought. This is getting too deep to try to piece together. I am not one to "fantasy book," so I will have to stop right there.
