George St-Pierre: "I Cried Yesterday"

George St-Pierre was just a little over a week away from squaring off with Carlos Condit in a welterweight title fight at UFC 137 when his world was turned upside down.

While going through his regular routine in preparations for the main event bout in Las Vegas, St-Pierre injured his knee.

UFC president Dana White later broke the news via Twitter, stating:

I just land in NYC and what do I always say!? I have to deal with bad s--- everyday!! GSP is out with an injury!!! #oneofthosedays

While St-Pierre is set to return as soon as January or February of 2012, he's sadly overwhelmed with his circumstances.

St.Pierre told SportsNets:

I'm not going to lie, I cried yesterday. I had a ton of pressure falling off my shoulders, because for the last few days I was in the mindset that I was nervous for the fight. I was excited for the fight but I was also nervous to know if I was going to be able to fight.

St-Pierre will now take the time off to rehab his injured knee and possibly take a vacation. 

Luckily for the welterweight champion, he won't have to change his training strategies, as White has already stated he'll sit Condit and wait for St-Pierre to get healthy. 

One thing's for sure: We won't see St-Pierre again until he's at full health or close to it.

In regards to making a full recovery, St-Pierre stated:

"

The recovery I want to do it well, I don't want to do it too fast. Because now I had an injury and I tried to train on it and maybe made it a little bit worse. I need a good four weeks to do my physio and do it right.

"

Despite unfortunate circumstances, we will see the normal St-Pierre back in action in early 2012.
