Nick Diaz and 5 UFC Fighters Who Must Drive Dana White Insane

Vince CareyOct 19, 2011

In every major sports promotion, there are guys that drive their bosses insane. The NBA has Ron Artest, the NFL has James Harrison and MLB apparently has some drunken pitchers it needs to look after, but no major sports organization has as many loose cannons as the UFC.

Sometimes it seems like Dana White has to talk about the same couple of fighters every time he gets on camera because they have said or done something that throws the media on its face. This list is a tribute to those fighters.

Nick Diaz

Sometimes it is hard to believe that Nick Diaz even makes it to the arena on fight day.

He is without a doubt one of the most polarizing fighters in the sport, but Diaz has had a lot of trouble making media commitments and has even missed a weigh-in during his career.

Diaz’s tendency to be a tough interview is legendary, and he has already let his inability to cooperate hurt his career a few times. That said, he is such an entertaining fighter that Dana feels it is worth the problems to try to work with him.

Rampage Jackson

It doesn’t take much to set Dana off, but when Rampage Jackson pulled out of his fight with Rashad Evans to film The A-Team, it looked like Dana was going to explode with anger.

Though they have resolved their differences, Rampage was recently at it again, stating he may leave the Octagon to try his hand at boxing, which once again led to an exasperated White answering questions about the fighter.

Tito Ortiz

The long history between Dana White and Tito Ortiz is legendary.

The two have exchanged words in the media more times than you can count, have threatened each other on numerous occasions and have even almost fought in the boxing ring.

Tito was the bad boy of the UFC before anyone else realized that it was cool, but he has abandoned that gimmick as of late and is becoming something resembling a fan favorite. Still, it will only take the right opponent or a disagreement with White to bring back the old Tito.

Anderson Silva

4 of 5

Anderson Silva has never said anything to the media to draw Dana’s wrath, but a few questionable performances inside the Octagon have brought him some criticism from his boss.

Following his UFC 112 win over Demian Maia, where Silva refused to engage for much of the fight, Dana was livid and claimed that another performance like that would leave Silva without a job.

Fortunately, there has been no repeat performance, but all it will take is another goofy fight from Silva for the topic to be pushed back into the spotlight.

Chael Sonnen

5 of 5

One has to wonder if Dana has an emergency line for someone to call just in case Chael Sonnen says something outrageous.

True, this line would be going off after just about every interview the middleweight contender does, but it might not be a bad idea.

Sonnen has made comments ranging from ridiculous to slanderous regarding everyone from Wanderlei Silva to Lance Armstrong, and it seems like it’s a matter of time before he takes it a step too far.
