Week 7 Fantasy Football Rankings: Biggest Point Producers at Every Position

Ryan RudnanskyOct 19, 2011

Here we are, another week into the NFL season, and players are beginning to show us just how valuable they can be on our fantasy football squads.

In Week 6, the biggest point producers at their respective positions were quarterback Aaron Rodgers, receiver Devin Hester, running back Ahmad Bradshaw, tight end Jimmy Graham and kicker Billy Cundiff.

I didn't give you all a kicker last time around given I generally don't care about them, but I will oblige this week and make kicker lovers proud.

Here are the biggest point producers at every position for Week 7.

QB: Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers

I hate to be so obvious, but I'm taking Aaron Rodgers this week. He's going up against a Minnesota Vikings defense that is giving up 269.5 passing yards per game that just allowed Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler to pass for 267 yards and two touchdowns.

Well, at least the Vikings are consistent in how many passing yards they allow.

Rodgers has the most fantasy points among quarterbacks this season and scored almost 25 points in Week 6 alone.

RB: Ray Rice, Baltimore Ravens

Ray Rice continues to prove he's one of the best running backs in the league, racking up the sixth-most fantasy points among running backs this season.

Rice can beat teams on the ground or through the air, and although the Jacksonville Jaguars have a decent defense in both areas, I don't think it's going to matter against Rice, who tends to dominate wherever he goes.

You'd be surprised at the amount of bad matchups for top running backs this week, and Rice's is actually one of the better ones.

WR: Greg Jennings, Green Bay Packers

I'll warn you right now. This is gonna be Packers lovefest this time around. So Bears fans may want to look the other way.

Greg Jennings has the fifth-most fantasy points among receivers this season, with 530 receiving yards and four touchdowns already. He's also facing the Vikings' secondary with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who, as usual, will be on fire.

If Jennings disappoints in Week 7, I'll probably yell at some random person.

TE: Jermichael Finley, Green Bay Packers

I promise I won't make the kicker a Green Bay Packer.

Jermichael Finley has the fifth-most fantasy points among tight ends this season, but most of that came against the Chicago Bears when he racked up 26.50 points.

Nonetheless, Finley is a special talent and it's only a matter of time before he erupts again.

I expect that time to be in Week 7 when he faces the Vikings. Let's just say I don't have much confidence in the Vikings' pass defense.

K: Sebastian Janikowski, Oakland Raiders

Not many surprises this week as Sebastian Janikowski has the most fantasy points among kickers, but his matchup is very intriguing and so is his leg power.

The key to picking a good kicker each week is to find an offense that should get close to the end zone but will fall short most of the time. Then your favorite kicker can trot out there, nail a field goal and you both can celebrate together like Bill Gramatica (sorry Bill, it's almost the 10-year anniversary).

Well, there you have it, folks. Hope you enjoyed and good luck this week!
