WWE Rumor: The Rock Going for the WWE Championship When He Returns?

This has been the debate for the past couple months. Will The Rock vs. John Cena be for the WWE title come WrestleMania 28? We all assume it will close the show, but will it be a title match?

According to this report, the new WWE Magazine cover teases The Rock may be looking for gold. That is quite a different story than a few weeks ago.

In this report, The Rock said he does not want to be WWE Champion again. It is all about the fans getting Rock vs. Cena, it's about more than the title in this case. That is fine, it makes sense.

The Rock has already achieved legendary status. Him returning to win the WWE title does not really do much for his legacy. It is already as great as it can be. Adding one more title reign won't do a thing.

On the other hand, if Cena is WWE Champion come next spring, guess what? The biggest match of all time just got even bigger!

I have made no bones about my thoughts on this discussion. I am torn. I am hanging on the fence right now. Usually, I have no problem stating my opinions on the world of wrestling. In this case, I just can't decide.

As much as Rock vs. Cena does not need the WWE title involved, imagine the atmosphere around that match if it were for the championship. Again, the biggest match of all time could be even bigger.

Yes, younger stars could be in the WWE title match. Yes, Rock winning the title in Miami would be a great moment. Yes, plenty of other guys could use a "rub" in being in a WrestleMania title match. Yes, Cena should be in the WWE title match come 'Mania. Yes for all of those things...

See my point? As great as each scenario is, the other side of the coin is that much better. Right now, all we have is a WWE Magazine cover tease, The Rock doing interviews and John Cena currently being wrapped up in the WWE title picture.
