UFC 95: Anderson Silva V.S.......?
By this time we already know, or have a good idea that Anderson Silva is fighting at UFC 95. But the question is who will he be fighting? It will be at light-heavyweight, but which 205 pounder? Here are 5 candidates I think would be a good match-up for him.
ENJOY!!!!
5. Houston Alexander
Houston Alexander is a well known gate keeper. He has tremendous power, but gases very quickly. He has the ability to KO the best of the best. He would be a great opponent for Anderson Silva.
He may not be a great fighter, he may not even be a good fighter. But he does have a lot, i mean a lot of power. He goes full bore for about 2:30 of the first round. If he catches Anderson in that time frame, he could do some damage. After that he's all but done for! but that could benefit that fans, because either way you look at it, we get an awesome KO!
4. Keith Jardine
I think Jardine would be a great fight for Anderson. He has an awkward style, and has a reputation of upsetting people(Chuck Liddell,Forrest Griffin, and Brandon Vera). Jardine is a middle of the road contender, which is what Silva needs.
If Silva wins it proves he can start fighting the best the 205 pound weight class can dish out. If he loses it will send him back down to 185, and it would propel Jardine into the elite fighter of the 205 class. It's a great situation for both fighters!
3. Brandon Vera
Vera is looking like the new 205 pound gatekeeper. He's an average fighter, but very marketable. He would certainly take this fight, if he would some how win, he'd be back into the conversation.
Although Silva would almost certainly win, it is fun to think about. Vera was great before he got the big contract, maybe this is the fight to get him going in the right direction. Silva would also benefit from this fight, as he would beat a fan favorite, maybe that would give him more draw power.
2. Chuck Liddell
This fight has been rumored, and then denied. But I don't believe in any rumors, or maybe I'm just in denial? Either way this fight would be great.
Chuck Liddell could test Anderson Silva's chin.(If he gets that far.) But on the flip side Anderson Silva gets the chance to beat Chuck Liddell, who still is one of the biggest PPV draws in the UFC. Which means a lot more people would get the chance to see him fight.
If Chuck wins, he sky rockets back into title contention. If Anderson wins, he sky rockets into title contention. It's a win/win for both men. We know the Couture/Liddell 4 won't be happening, so why not this?
1. Randy Couture
This may be a stretch, but who knows? Randy is coming off a tough loss to Brock Lesnar and may be contemplating a move to 205. Who better to be his first opponent than Anderson Silva? It would do huge numbers as well.
Randy is set to fight at UFC 99 in Germany, but has publicly stated he doesn't want to wait hat long to fight again. Why not give him a match in between? If Randy wins, he's back to the old Randy, and will be mentioned in the title picture. Same goes for Anderson Silva, if he wins he's instantly a contender.
Another win/win, both men are instant contenders, and Randy can still fight at UFC 99! Anderson and Randy would be a great fight. Both men could benefit from it, and the loser would still have a back-up plan. Randy could fight back at heavyweight, and would have lost to the No. 1 P4P fighter in the world. Anderson could go back to 185 and reign supreme, if he loses its to a legend, and he's still top 5 P4P in the world.
