NFL Predictions Week 7: Which Teams Will Win in Defensive Struggles?

Chris TrapassoOct 19, 2011

Remember that thing called "defense" in the NFL?

Teams have shown us very little of that in the 2011 season, but it still exists—somewhere.

The Week 7 slate provides us with a few matchups that actually could yield some lower-scoring affairs much to the liking of the old-school football lovers out there.

Seattle at Cleveland

Both teams are 2-3 and wouldn't be labeled as having "explosive" offenses.

The Seahawks have totaled the least amount of yards in the NFL this year, are averaging a mere 83.0 yards on the ground and 18.3 points-per-game.

As for the Browns, they'll likely be without running back Peyton Hillis for this one and are already 28th in total offense.

In the end, the Browns win.

I like Colt McCoy over either of the Seahawks quarterbacks.

Denver at Miami

Tim Tebow is making his first start of the season for the Broncos, and although he'll certainly inspire his club, I'm not expecting an Aaron Rodgers-esque performance.

More quarterback draws and intermediate passes than anything else.

Sure, he'll take some shots down the field, but how accurate will those passes be?

The Dolphins defense is better than their 0-5 record indicates, unfortunately their offense can't convert on third down, and Matt Moore was very inconsistent against the Jets last week.

This game has 13-10 written all over it.

In his 2011 debut, Tebow inspires his team to a narrow victory.

Baltimore at Jacksonville

The Jaguars held the Steelers to 17 points at home and unquestionably have an underrated defense. Joe Flacco has bounced back from a poor performance against the Jets a few weeks ago, but he'll regress a bit in this one.

The Ravens will be able to get to Blaine Gabbert and hurry him into bad decisions with Terrell Suggs and Haloti Ngata.

Defense will rule this game, with the Ravens pulling away late.
