NFL Week 7 Picks: Which Teams Are Stone Cold Locks to Win This Week?

Chris TrapassoOct 21, 2011

Labeling NFL games as "locks" has become increasingly more difficult to do this season, following all the upsets and closely contested games.

Week 7 offers a bit of a break for guys like me, making the picks.

These three predictions are obvious, right?

Dallas Cowboys over the St. Louis Rams

Brandon Lloyd instantly becomes the go-to-guy for Sam Bradford in this one, but I don't envision the Rams offense effectively moving the football against Rob Ryan's defense, considering it confused Tom Brady last week.

Tony Romo should have a big day against one of the worst defenses in football.

DeMarco Murray will be a major factor in this one—the Rams have the 32nd-ranked run defense in the NFL.

This game should be over by halftime.

New Orleans Saints over Indianapolis Colts

This game should be closer than everyone expects because of the Saints' suspect secondary. Curtis Painter is settling in to the Colts offense, and their running backs will be effective on the ground.

However, Drew Brees and company will torch the Colts' defensive backfield throughout and utilize Darren Sproles in the screen game.

This contest could be close at the half, but the Saints will pull away with an offensive explosion in the fourth quarter.

Can anyone cover Jimmy Graham?

Green Bay Packers over Minnesota Vikings

What does Christian Ponder have to look forward to in this one?

A weak Packers pass defense that's been shredded by opposing quarterbacks all season.

That's about it.

Dom Capers will dial-up a multitude of blitz packages to send at the rookie. Even if he starts off well, Clay Matthews will get to him in the second half.

How did I go this long without talking about Aaron Rodgers? The guy is operating at a higher level than anyone right now, and we saw what Jay Cutler did against this Minnesota defense last week.

Blowout.
