BCS Rankings 2011: Why Boise State Has No Business Being in Top 5 over Wisconsin
The Boise State Broncos are currently ranked No. 5 in the BCS rankings and don't have any business being ranked that high over teams such as Wisconsin and Clemson.
Boise State has zero quality wins and plays a very weak Mountain West schedule, yet they are ranked higher in the BCS than Big Ten, ACC, and Pac-12 teams who have more quality wins and play tougher schedules.
The team that really got screwed in the BCS rankings is Wisconsin, who is ranked higher in the AP poll than Boise State at No. 4 and have more quality wins.
The Broncos' best win is against an overrated Georgia team and that is it. They do play TCU this season, but TCU isn't half the team it was last year when the school beat Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl to complete a perfect season.
Boise's bad out of conference schedule combined with their weak conference schedule gives them no right to be in the Top 5 of the BCS standings.
The Broncos are a good team, but they need to test themselves frequently with quality opponents in order to have a top BCS ranking.
Wisconsin beat a quality Nebraska team at home a few weeks ago and not only did they beat the Corn Huskers, they dominated them 48-17.
Wisconsin is one of the most complete football teams in the country and can beat you on both the ground and through the air.
Quarterback Russell Wilson is a Heisman Trophy caliber player leading a dynamic Badgers offense. The Badgers are first in points scored per game with 50.2 and third in the nation in points allowed with 9.7.
Wisconsin is a better team than Boise State on both sides of the ball and should be ranked higher than the Broncos. The good news for the Badgers is they have more opportunities to rank up with games against quality opponents than the Broncos do.
