WWE Vengeance 2011: Why Cody Rhodes Needs a Victory
Cody Rhodes is the son of a wrestler that was one of the most famous and influential people in the business of all-time in Dusty Rhodes. His name carries a lot of weight in the wrestling world; much like his opponent at Vengeance, Randy Orton’s name does.
As the Intercontinental Champion, Cody has started to set himself apart as a great “heel” in the WWE, while using his last name of Rhodes.
Back in January, Cody was a good heel, but his character was missing something. He was missing an edge or something to make fans hate him.

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
He had his “Dashing” gimmick, which was fine, as people hate an ego maniac who’s in love with himself and thinks the rest of the world should bow down to him.
It got him some heat against him while sending Cody into a nice mid-card feud with Rey Mysterio.
However, this feud is what started this rise up the WWE ladder that the young Rhodes is on now.
During a spot that went wrong between Mysterio and Rhodes, Cody was to take a “619” from Rey. Cody went into his spot where his head was to be in-between the top and middle rope. Rey came racing towards Cody, jumped and swung his legs from behind Cody’s head to make contact with Cody’s face, blasted Cody in the nose busting it wide open.
The botch forced Cody to don a protective mask, like the one NBA All Star Rip Hamilton wears for the Detroit Pistons. The mask has given Cody that “IT” that all WWE Super Stars have.
Now, Cody has transformed his WWE character into a cynical heel that has a mysterious dark side to himself. It has helped him transform into one of the best Intercontinental champions in quite some time.
Cody has a chance to not only put the IC title back up to one of the main belts, as it was when wrestlers like: the Ultimate Warrior, Mister Perfect, Bret Hart, Triple H, The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin, held the belt.
The win over a multiple time WWE Champion and World Heavyweight Champion, Randy Orton, would shoot Cody into the main even scene, where he belongs.
Some main event wrestlers are pushed there because of their size, their work rate or because there is no one else available at the time.
Cody Rhodes has what most main event wrestlers don’t have, that “IT” factor. He’s not the biggest or the best worker but he has connected with the audience and has worked an entertaining feud with Orton.
Cody Rhodes needs this victory at Vengeance, if not it will kill all of this momentum that he has made for himself.
