NFL Trade Deadline: Teams That Will Kick Themselves for Not Adding Carson Palmer
There has been talk of a trade of Carson Palmer since before training camp opened, because the Bengals heard it early on from Palmer that he wasn't going to play in Cincinnati again.
But it took about three months for a deal to be done, and now Palmer isn't out there for other teams looking for quarterback help.
There have already been a couple of benchings in the QB ranks, and those teams are among those who could be sorry not to have made a push for Palmer.
Vikings in Midst of a QB Quandary
1 of 4Palmer might have made a good transition for the Vikings, who on Tuesday announced that untested Christian Ponder would be starting over veteran Donovan McNabb this weekend against Green Bay.
McNabb has guided the Vikings to just one victory in six games; Palmer, if Minnesota could have counted on him being healthy, likely would have been a good arm to turn to.
Tebow for Now with Broncos, but Palmer Would Have Fit
2 of 4If you listen to Bronco fans, it took just short of forever for management to get around to benching Kyle Orton in favor of Tim Tebow.
If Tebow isn't the player the Broncos thought he was when Denver drafted him, then Palmer would have made a good man to turn to once Orton was out.
In Indy, Still Looking for a QB in Peyton Manning's Absence
3 of 4With Peyton Manning out, the Colts have been forced to scramble to get good quarterback play, with Curtis Painter and Kerry Collins having shared time.
It's likely that the Colts are counting so much on getting Manning back next year that they didn't push for a deal for Palmer, but even back in training camp it was clear they could have used Palmer as much as anyone.
Still Looking for Consistency in Seattle
4 of 4The Seahawks didn't want to give Matt Hasselbeck a contract for more than one more season, so Tarvaris Jackson was brought it when Hasselbeck left as a free agent.
But the passing attack has been spotty, there are increasing calls for backup Charlie Whitehurst and you have to think former USC quarterback Palmer would have fit in well with former USC coach Pete Carroll, but now we'll never know.
